First glimpses of the new QF HKG F Lounge

They are probably marketing material by some architectural design firm to show off what they are capable of. Its not uncommon for any project like this to go from concept design to detailed design to final design, with all three stages being performed by different consultants.

So they may have been engaged by QF to do the preliminary deisgn, and felt they did it so nicely they need to publish it as one of their capabilities, meanwhile the ACTUAL design has moved on...

Ausbt.com.au has sought comment from Qantas and they have advised that these aren't the plans of the HK lounge... sorry to get everyone whipped up into a frenzy!

Of course the question is then what are they?
Plans for a lounge somewhere else? BKK? KUL? BNE? Doesn't really look like SIN.
An early mockup before the final plans are drawn up?
Or an elaborate hoax?

Could be an early mock up, could be one of a few options, could be using this forum for feedback, could be a unique project, could be a hoax...
Who knows, just looking forward to the new lounge.

Here is the link to the designers website - drawings are dated June 2012:

Her CV suggests these are concept plans completed prior to October 2010 at Sebastien Segers (architects) in conjunction with Marc Newson, so it is unlikely to be what is currently being built :)

Sebastien Segers have been involved with both the SYD and MEL First Lounges, so not surprising if they are also involved with HKG F Lounge.

first visit here today, very swanky, nice open setup and the food is quite good, great views to the runway

I asked the lounge lady about progress last week.
She was fairly vague and said she thought some refurbishment was going to start at the end of the year.

I just wish that they prioritised LAX but alas all the inferior OWs use it :D
I liked the food in LAX - they had heaps of smoked salmon and a nice French bubbly, so meets all the food groups as far as I am concerned. Was a bit like a refugee camp in terms of space and seating though.....

The black walls/floor, marble QF logo and the green is very CL :D It is a shame that QF dumped the HKG-LHR leg :( I just wish that they prioritised LAX but alas all the inferior OWs use it :D

The LAX F OW lounge is better than both SIN and HKG F Lounges combined (minus the shocking interwebs). They are prioritising IMHO, the worst first!
