Looks like we have the first cyclone forming for the season, it would pay to keep an eye on the weather for those travelling in QLD and NT over the next few days! Too early to tell where and when the track will run!

Current Tropical Cyclones

SITUATION At 0600 UTC a Tropical Low was centred within 50 nautical miles of latitude sixteen decimal one south (16.1S) longitude one hundred and fifty seven decimal one east (157.1E) Recent movement : southeast at 12 knots Maximum winds : 30 knots Central pressure: 1001 hPa The low is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 12 hours.

NT one is the one I'm watching....

We started a book a few days ago when we saw the 4 day forecast charts ;)

And now there are two, looks like DRW will be wet and windy for XMas, and the airport unlikely to be open Dec 25/26 and possibly Dec 24 if the path predictions hold true (which often they dont).

I'm due to fly SYD - DRW on the 27th. Here's hoping as I'm only going to work!

Flying in to DRW on Saturday afternoon from PER.

Hoping we can get in before the airport shuts. Don't really care if a cyclone hits while I'm there. In fact I would welcome it...I'm a bit of a storm chaser

I'll be annoyed if I'm in Perth for Christmas, watching it unfold on TV though. 2nd time in 3 weeks a trip will have been affected by weather...in bloody December!!

It's slowed down, so it now looks like a Christmas Day eventuality!

Saw that. Gives me some more breathing room ... although I was looking forward to re-routing through MEL tonight instead!!!

Grant looks like reforming in the Gulf and hitting somewhere between Lockhart River and Cairns on Friday night.

Still way too early for accurate track predictions.....

One forming off the Pilbara coast as we speak. Currently on Blue Alert, expecting Yellow Alert tomorrow!

True we are in Exmouth for the time and expecting to go back tomorrow. Nice place for a Casino in Exmouth to start tourism off. So many blocks in receiverships for sale
