First claim ever on travel insurance

So in the event of a claim with a TI policy, you have to tell them which credit cards you hold? And if you hold a card with TI, they can ask you for payment receipts to confirm that it was activated? In addition to making it way harder and more work, it seems like they're allowed to ask for a lot of financial info.

I'll be way more careful with pre-departure purchases that activate CC TI if I need a separate TI policy for some reason.

Most illuminating.

The insurance companies are supposed to decide the 'contribution' between themselves. This should not be an imposition on the policy holder. If the insurance company asks what they did of the original poster you can tell them to go jam it. That is their job, not yours.

Depends how you look at it.

Way harder for who? The insurance company? For them it’s potentially limiting their liability, so a small bit of work could save them thousands.

Harder for you? It could actually be a benefit it one policy doesn’t cover the claim, or the full amount of the claim. Or might might have a more generous calculation for cancelled award flights for example.
