I hate to burst your bubble, but shutterless windows were always a known part of the design.

The new thing being a picture of the final product, not the idea!

Interesting that the FAs will be able to open or close the "shutters" as they want given the comments here about access to the window blinds (almost as vitriolic as the thread on whY access to J loos).

I suppose not much different to now, except they wont have to reach over pax any more!

I got the impression that it might be a bit more overt - almost like boarding school "lights off"...

That looks better than I thought it might be.

I was most concerned when visiting the Boeing factory in July, that they said that the windows would only become mostly dark but never fully black (I wake up pretty easily with any kind of real light... but then again, the lights inside are still likely to be more the issue than those outside).

While I'm all for new technology if it adds value, I'm not looking forward to the day when these things start to break and it takes the planes removal from service to fix. When working these ideas are great, when they start to break they really become annoying.

Yep, now all we need is for FAs to be able to lock seats upright and hotel-style, card access locks on the J loo's and very WP in the world will be happy....right? I mean how dare anyone want to look out the window, recline their seat or use the toilet.
