Hi guys,

I have a ticket to Europe booked on Finnair. It looks like the Qantas flights have AY codes.

In regards to the QF flights, will this prevent me from gaining access to the lounge using a Qantas Club Invitation?

I know it plainly states that the ticket must have a QF number but is this enforced strictly even if I am travelling on QF metal?

Thanks guys!

Extract from conditions

  1. Each invitation is valid for a single visit, for one person only, before the date specified on the invitation. The invitations cannot be renewed once expired. You must present the invitation on arrival at the lounge and be travelling later that day on a Qantas, Qantaslink or Jetstar flight and your ticket must have a QF or JQ flight number.

I read that as QF metal, but there is certainly no harm in trying anyway.
Also check out Meetings and Social Events, you never know you may get lucky... (and thus saving your pass for a later use)

First had (one-time only) experience is that it will be rejected if on an AY code on QF metal.
Our group tried to use a pass to get someone into the QF pub international at Sydney when we ran out of WPs guesting. Computer says no.
But YMMV so no harm in trying.

I would have thought the condition you quoted was as clear as any could be.

If its not a QF or JQ flight number, you are not entitled to QP entry on that pass and if I were you, I wouldn't bother trying. It may or may not embarrass the QP front desk people to refuse you, but they shouldn't have to deal with 'try it on' requests.

I have a finnair flight out of Singapore and I have reached my guest limit - I am still going to use this pass for my extra person - I am just going to book a cheap jetstar flight Singapore to KL that departs late and my guest will just not board. It cost approx $40 but having us all together in the Singapore Qantas Club will be easier then me trying to guest one person in to Cathay or BA and the rest of us in Qantas. I am not sure if this is going to work but I am willing to try it.

Good luck.

try and get the JQ flight price matched with tiger!! can be had for as low as $4 or something! (seriously!!)

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I was asking because I wanted to clarify if I would be flying on a AY number. I made the booking on the Finnair website but on the Qantas website I have two references in 'manage my booking'. One ref has AY numbers for all flights, and the other has QF numbers for the QF segments.

Guess I'll be going without lounge access
