I'm assuming Longhaul on their Airbus A340 (eg HEL-HKG) rather than shorthaul (ie LHR-HEL).

I found it ok in Economy, but pretty lacklustre overall.

The range of movies and entertainment was limited, and there wasn't the number of new releases seen on other carriers. I think it was only one or two very recent films.

The headphones felt very cheap'n'nasty (Blue in-ear ones)

On the plus side, it didn't crash, and there is the standard "Fast Forward"/"Pause" etc functions available.

Yep will be HKG to HEL and return. Mrs is booking it and asking me what it would be like. As I've never been on Finnair before I thought i'd put the question out to the wider audience.

I'd basically agree with Mal's comments. I experienced it flying HKG-HEL return August last year. I got into HKG from SYD flying Cathay, and essentially Finnair's system looked to be the same as far as I could tell, and a lot of content was the same, but Finnair just seemed to have less of everything.

Have flown Finnair longhaul between Asia and Europe quite a few times in business class recently and more to come. There is AVOD. It doesn't crash like on QF but the offerings are limited compared to QF, CX and others. A few movies, a few TV shows, airshow, documentaries and music are available. From memory all are in English or at least with English subtitles.

I usually take my ipod with heaps of movies and music loaded.

Agree with previous posts. Not as large selection, compared with QF or CX (I enjoy CX the most as I usually get my fix of cantonese/asian movies). Have flown AY Helsinki-HKG 4x in J (I think the AVOD offerings are the same in Y) and can say that AVOD has not frozen once. If flying J I think their headphones are superior to QF (for my ears anyway:)) Oh they have the take off and landings with nose camera views.
