FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

Any tips on the following?

I currently have an Citibank Emirates card which I've held for quite a number of years. I'm not impressed with the card anymore, and was thinking of 'upgrading' to the Prestige. I have a high credit limit on the Emirates card (more than the 30K min required for the Prestige I read somewhere in this thread).

Citibank have told me they will process the upgrade, but I won't be receiving the 70K bonus points. They don't want to budge on this. Any tips?

They told me the only way to get the bonus points is to re-apply for the Prestige card. That is a massive hassle with Citi - any tips how I can get around the whole process? Such a shame they don't look after loyal customers.

Depending on your tenure and spend with Citi, argue for a reduction/waiver of first year's annual fee given they're saving the sign up bonus.

I made a similar request when I switched to Select a few years ago. Took some time for them to agree but in the end got a cheap annual fee in year 1. Prestige is now my main card.

Not worth as much as the points but $700 is a reasonable outcome. It's pretty standard across all card issuers to have sign up bonuses only for "new" customers.

Does anyone know what sort of income checks citi conducted. I am "currently" over the minimum income because I am between jobs and currently being paid by both but in a few months will be below the minimum spend. I might be able to apply for the card but would like to know first before I commit.

Cheers,

Just confirmed second Airport Transfer for Dec 22 on return to MEL. So now have PEK to hotel on 15th and MEL to my home 22nd - thanks Citi.

Another factor tempts me to return to the fold ????

Tempting indeed

Plus Asia Miles transfer too

The phone line still goes dead when I have tried to get a limit increase. My fifth attempt got dust so I paid the running account to zero as my current limit gets fully used. For a special card there is a bit of a disconnect when I keep waiting for the promised call back.
Citi US on the other hand increased my limit by $10,000 without me even asking. Such a difference in service levels.

 Complimentary yQ airport Meet & Assist Service (MAAS) twice per calendar year.

Has anyone tried this yet?

I booked the 'limousine' (both ways) for end of the year, however appears the driver will pick me up from the Arrivals hall. If I elected for the 'MAAS' service to be added, assume I'll be met prior to this and escorted through customs? Can't see the value of this in MEL (given e-passport), however would be worth it in some Asian airports. Could even be worth it in SIN if you're arriving at a far away gate and they come with a buggy :).

@slodki cancelling your existing citi emirates card and reapplying some months later appears to be your only option if you want those bonus points. You could shift to something like: westpac Black, woolworth edr, diners world mastercard (pick one) in the meantime to keep your balance ticking over. Don't blame you for ditching the emirates plastic, the earn rate went from being competitive to really poor a little while ago. Added fuel surcharges on Emirates since the Qantas partnership are pretty awful for skywards people who remember the good old days.

YES - it worked a treat in PEK on Monday. I received SMS prior to dep from SIN advising drivers name and mobile number - he was indeed waiting for me on exit arrivals hall with printed name on sheet - car was brand new Audi - very steady / patient / professional driver.

Have another booked for ret MEL on Mon 22nd - will post how that goes.

Cruiserette had one booked on arrival back from Mildura on Tuesday - Qantas flt 3.5hrs late - but she also had drivers contact number and kept him updated - he was there to meet her and it went off without a hitch also.

Not a big deal only 2 x annually but a nice little add on to the card.

Excellent to read. Might use one of mine on a Japan trip next year. Flying into HND so will try and organise one for that.

Used my quote of 2 for this year. From home was a Caprice in Melbourne and In Bangalore was a 3 series. Can't fault the professionalism of the drivers and the service. In fact, I might pay for this service (at visa preferential rates).

Just returned from MEL on second transfer - near new 7 series BMW - great driver - great cat - interesting conversation.

Info supplied by my driver this morn - he received this job via a German company Blackline - for this job he was to receive US$111.00 paid directly into his bank account. When these jobs come up - Blackline float them via their app to potential respondees (limo providers) starting at a low rate say US$50 - when no takers the rate increases I think in $5 increments up to a certain level - then if no takers go back down to low level again and start over.

After couple cycles if nobody 'grabs' the job it starts incrementing $1 amts til someone nails it - he grabbed it several days ago at $111.00 but this was days after Prestige Concierge confirmed it with me. Very interesting chat. This guy has 2 BMW's operating 365 days - currently has 3 jobs to airport XMAS day.

I asked him is he into Uner at all - god he 'pooh hahed' it - apparently Uber take 20% comm - he says its just worth it unless really short of work which he never is - interesting.

Guys above info is how I understood what was relayed to me - I only report what I hear.

just transferred some citi points to Krisflyer - seems they've implemented a slightly different way of redeeming. still straightforward, just different.

Picked up the three of us this morning at 4:45 for SQ252 no problems.
The two free airport limo services are a great addition to the card.

YES it is a valuable addition - a full $200 value annually to me. Had not paid Select Ann fee for 3 years - will be interesting to see if Prestige alters this.
