Sorry if you have seen this programme, however we just watched episode 3 of Martin Clunes series on the Islands of the Atlantic.

Well, its obvious that it is columnar jointed basalt - right? Very interesting. And there is a nice fault going through the LH leg - nifty. And the shape - looks like its folded but I don't think it is. Just phoar!

I am more amazed you got a ticket to the Tattoo at short notice than that you didnt get a ticket on the Hogwarts Express at 3 months out....

If you drive from Fort William to Mallaig via Glennfinnian the road and train track are beside each other a lot of the time anyway. Years ago there was a free carpark under the viaduct to watch the train, probably 20 pounds to park there now.

The last time I was there and tried to get near the viaduct I had to park over 2 km away and gave up. It was so crowded.

Doesnt surprise me...too many tourists everywhere now.

Other interesting things on the road around Glascow are The Kelpies and Falkirk Wheel.

... so at least no parking problems; abt 2km walk.. Viewing opportunities in the afternoon and morning, but yes, I understand I'll have to be there early.
