Fiji Airways is hopeful of expanding its alliance with part-owner Qantas in the coming months as part of long-term plans to boost capacity on routes to Australia by almost a third over the next five years.
The island nation’s airline announced plans today to increase the size of its fleet of aircraft by a quarter by 2017, and strengthen alliances with other airlines.
Qantas and Fiji Airways remain in on-going talks following meetings between senior executives before Christmas about expanding the alliance to include greater access to airport lounges and loyalty schemes.

If you cant access the SMH it is also in the Canberra times.
Would certainly be helpful for us with an FJ flight in October.

QF already codeshare on all FJ services ex Aus and from NAN to LAX and AKL. What else can they do realistically?

Tabua Club members could access QP's when travelling in Australia, and perhaps lounge access when on an FJ ticket could be easier, as I've heard of issues. Not sure what they could do with loyalty issues, but better earning potential would be nice.

Maybe status recognition whilst flying FJ. Or get rid of Tabua club and make QFF the default program for FJ. There's many possibilities! :)

Take the parked jetstar hk and jp planes and start jetstar fiji. Be careful what you wish for Fiji Airways

Jetstar Pacific?

Trouble with that is that they'd probably just take over the business without a care in the world, as Qantas knows all too well. Not a great idea to park planes there that will be 'taken' :p
