However, it is possible to book paid flights on FJ all the way to the US on QF codes - looking at that right now to bypass the current outrageous trans-PAC J fares at the moment.
How do you do this- I couldn't find those fares anywhere on Qantas and booking it on Fiji Airways gave me a FJ code automatically. Is there a trick to it?

Lucky you then! Or maybe you're just a naturally born dragon master :D
No argument at all. the lounge attendants knew the rules. They can't really blame covid so a terse email would be in order along the lines of follow your own rules.

Hi, advice plse - wondering how to get FJ on their site to change J seat choices they have made for me. On the A350, how's row 12 A/K SYD - LAX? Or is it best to be mid cabin? Thanks

We were in 12 and 15 from memory on our flights and loved the seats. Up the front, there's always a chance of a screamer in the bassinet seat I guess but we didn't have any issues, the one toddler was super well behaved (or drugged out by the parents- who knows :D ).

Otherwise no issues with noise or light. If anything, food orders are taken from front to back so I'd strongly prefer those seats further up in the cabin if that's of importance to you (it is to me!).

Thanks Berlin, and great trip report. They have chosen 12 A and then 12 K for me. (Is there a secret to changing the seats on line at FJ?)

It is the toddlers that I find do not like being constrained and tend to object loudly.
