Fiji Airways services operated by Malindo

Just think he was expecting business class service, because he was in business class

Of course! Who wouldn’t! But sitting there doing nothing about it at the time is just accepting it. Be proactive if you really want them to help. Waiting until it’s all over to fire off a complaint is too late.

So today we flew NAN-BNE on FJ921 and it was the Malindo plane.Crew were Malindo but there was a FJ supervisor. Also one of the FAs who came up from the back looked Fijian but in a Malindo outfit.
The 2 pilots were Indian so i presume there were from FJ.

Service was fine and champagne pre take off. They did announce the bar was closed 30 minutes out of BNE.
This though was not a routine flight. It was the last BNE plane out of NAN before the cyclone. When we checked in online last night we were the only 2 pax in J.But it went out with 12 J pax-at least 8 and possibly the other 10 were opups as many on tonights plane obviously wanted out early. As well 2 women in the first row were talking about how they were on the cancelled Virgin flights. One was going to MEL the other to Tassie.I guess they may have paid full Y hence got the upgrade.

We of course in true AFF style were on AA awards.

It does appear we timed our holiday to perfection. The reports from Denarau is that the power is intermittent and winds a lot stronger.

Flew to Fiji on Fiji air tix-Malindo aircraft & seats seemed very very low. Is that because Maladino expect generally shorter passengers ?

Booked Fiji air as wanted to fly the a350 ex Sydney.
Looks like this might not be the case?

think Malindo are only doing BNE/NAN/BNE. One flight a day SYD/NAN/SYD is A350 I believe, but Coronavirus has probably had some impact on load factors & they could switch to a smaller aircraft.

Found it very weird getting out of seat. Seat seemed substantially lower & room above top of seat back seemed greater.

Looks like this is a temp leased aircraft whilst the new Fiji Airways 737-Max's are being sorted out, but seems to have reasonable seat pitch 32" so better than the Qantas equivalent....

Interesting post/question.
I was doing a lot of flying on Malindo last year or so between KUL & HKT, KUL & BKI
I'll see if I can dig out the photos took on board.
Can't remember it seeming lower - but I live full time in SE Asia and haven't flown an Australian carrier for years, so no way of comparing

I have noticed low seats on some aircraft and it would be great to have factual /technical responses as with all the cool knowledgeable community members here I'm sure the info is out there!

When QF first received the ZK- 73H's they introduced a new style 'slimline' economy seat. Rather than have the head rest attached onto the top of the backrest part of seat as had been the case, the head rest was attached the the seat frame and the backrest of the seat finished below the head rest.

This made for an uncomfortable ridge just below my shoulder level. Fortunately as the padding aged it (and the ridge) became softer / less pronounced and the ride a little more comfortable.

yes but seat pitch is not a measure of legroom. It's all about what seat used. An airline can reduce seat pitch by installing slimline seats, without reducing legroom

Hi does anyone know what days Fiji airways use Malindo from BNE to NAN? would like to prepare myself ive heard they arent very good. Ta

Looks like most days this week so far:
FJ920 - https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/fj920
FJ922 - https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/fj922

Some reviews here:

This is at least the third thread on this.
The BNE flight on Malindo is every day.Occurs as FJ needed to cover it's 737 MAX aircraft not being available.

I'm coming back on a Sunday and its shown as an A330 fiji airways so obviously not daily

Parents of a work colleague bid for upgrade last week on an FJ flight MEL-NAN - $350 was accepted per person. This included lounge access. I was worried they'd be on the Malindo plane, but thankfully MEL seems to be FJ metal :)

The BNE service though is usually the 737 which at present is the Malindo plane.Guessing more bookings this weekend so the Airbus.Wonder who gets the Malindo plane.

may have been a big group for FJ to put on A330 NAN/BNE. In low season FJ reduce flights from daily down to 4-5 a week BNE/NAN/BNE.

Have seen FJ A330 at BNE in peak season. Think it was scheduled once a week in peak.

Hey @Archipelago, shouldn't you change your username to Kepulauan then? 😁
