so what are Fiji Airways doing now they can't fly their 737 max into Australia ?

Reducing their schedule ?

Borrowing an aircraft from big brother Qantas who own something like 46% ?

Bringing in one of Nauru Airlines 737-300s ?

or ?

A quick look for flights in the next week & it seems that BNE/NAN/BNE has A330s twice a week, instead of 737 maxs, but no Thu flight, which I think was a red eye.

Also MEL/NAN/MEL seems to have A330s twice a week, when it was daily or 6/week 737s.

ADL/NAN/ADL seems to now only be once a week, so presume, pax will have to fly ADL/BNE or SYD or MEL/NAN on Qantas domestically.

There are fares to LAX departing in next week for under $850 return, probably as a result of all of a sudden having an extra 100 or so empty seats, even if the 737 max's were full, so possibly even more.

Maybe they should come out with sympathy fares under $800 if you can go now, or include a few nights in a Fiji hotel. From memory, Fiji Airways owns a large chunk of the Sofitel in Denaru.

Ultimately I suspect schedules will have to take a hit.

Some flights will have to get a fuel stop on a 737.

fuel stop ?

Where ?

NAN/HNL must be their longest 737 sector & they've been doing that nonstop for years. They used to fly NAN/HNL/YVR in a 737.

Was talking more generally there, not FJ specific.

As I understand a number of routes globally were introduced only because the Max had longer range.

I would think they'd try with their existing fleet, and if that is not enough, they'll be on the phone!

if this 737 max thing drags out for months, then wonder what's happened to the old 737-800 which have recently departed their fleet ?

If not already leased to someone else & they haven't been repainted, surely the leasing company would gladly give FJ a short term lease from hell, as demand for old aircraft must be reducing by the day.
