As very kindly advised by AFF member eminere in the Qantas delays and cancellations thread, but also placed here as it is a matter primarily for Fiji Airways (although it affects QF codeshare passengers, which was eminere's excellent, thoughtful point):

Aircraft Affected by Tarmac Incident

A roster for five aircraft into four does not 'go', unfortunately. It shows the problems that transport operators with small fleets can have when 20 per cent of equipment or rollingstock suddenly needs to be shopped for urgent repairs.

Presumably the ground handler AVS now faces a large bill at the very least.

All valid points you have made, and I would certainly hope FJ slaps the culprit with the repair bill. While my flight from SYD-NAN hasn't been delayed (in fact, it is now scheduled to depart 15 minutes earlier) according to the disruption timetable the inbound flight has been downgauged. A shame as I had deliberately selected this later flight as it was scheduled to be operated by the A332, though at this point I am just hoping I am not offloaded!

We were on an A330 SYD-NAN last Friday.
Luckily our NAN-AKL flight on Thursday is operated by a 737 so no delays for us at this stage.

The reduced number of aircraft is certainly affecting a lot of flights with the NAN-LAX departing 17 hours late yesterday.

FJ931 into MEL on Thursday 7 January 2016 is about 65 minutes late, arriving at roughly 2255 hours. B738 DQ-FJH is the aircraft.

On Friday 8 January, FJ912 departed SYD 142 minutes late at 1257, with arrival forecast at 1830, an even two hours behind time.

On Sunday 10 January FJ912, the 1835 SYD to NAN departed an hour late with arrival expected to be 79 minutes behind time.

All flights cancelled for Sunday, February 21st and as of now for Monday, February 22nd. They issued a waiver on 19th to cover travel 19-25th.

With flights again operating, FJ914 on Saturday 27 February departed SYD at 0725 instead of the timetabled 0630. Arrival in NAN should be at 1229 this afternoon, 64 minutes late.

Thankfully it is operating unlike when the cyclone hit, but FJ910 from SYD to NAN on Wednesday 9 March departed 38 minutes late at 1413. Arrival is forecast as 43 minutes behind at 1913.

FJ916 (1135 SYD to NAN) departed 72 minutes late at 1247 on Holy Thursday, 24 March 2016, with arrival predicted for 1741, meaning a net gain of one minute on the schedule.

On Wednesday 6 April 2016, FJ910, the 1300 hours from SYD to NAN that is also QF codehare Q391 has been cancelled, although the inbound FJ910 from NAN was on blocks a minute early at 1144.

As this airline has a small fleet, this may result in other flights being cancelled down the track.

No one's predictions can be 100 per cent correct but my effort in the previous post was correct. On Thursday 7 April, FJ910 from SYD to NAN, the 1300 hours early afternoon timetabled flight will instead depart at a suggested 1655 getting on towards the late afternoon.

While many of us may enjoy a 'new airline' to mark off as having flown on, this sort of delay due to an earlier failure of an aircraft is a risk with airlines that have miniscule fleets, because the planes may ordinarily be fully committed as smaller entities lack the financial capability (or from their perspective not a passenger's 'the need') to have a spare aircraft.

UPDATE: On 7 April, FJ914 (0630 early morning SYD to NAN) departed two hours late, expected arrival being 1415 hours, a gain of five minutes on the schedule.

On Friday 15 April FJ931 from NAN to MEL, the 2200 hours arrival will instead arrive at 2348 hours. The returning FJ930 is delayed from its usual 2300 hours Friday departure to a suggested 0100 early on Saturday morning.

On Thursday 21 April, FJ914 departed SYD 39 minutes late at 1134 but should regain a bit of time with predicted arrival being only 20 minutes behind at 1705 hours.

FJ915 into SYD from NAN on Tuesday 26 April 2016 should arrive at about 2202 instead of the timetabled 2125 hours. This aircraft stables in SYD overnight so there is no rush for it to 'beat curfew' that would be the case if it was scheduled to depart back to NAN late this evening.

FJ917, the 0955 hours SYD arrival on Saturday 14 May 2016 ex NAN is cancelled as is FJ916, 1055 SYD - NAN.

The poor weather in SYD and along the Australian lower east coast on Sunday 5 June has not helped FJ910, the 1300 hours SYD - NAN (A332 DQ-FJU) as it was not airborne until 1404 hours and hence will arrive at about 1950 hours this evening, an hour late.

FJ917 on Saturday 18 June was airborne from NAN at 0745 despite a departure time of 0700 hours; it should arrive in SYD at about 1026, 31 minutes late with B738 DQ-FJM.
