Back in March when I first flew the new F suites, I was very anxious that an equipment swap may occur; my anxiety was only allayed when I got onboard and saw the new suites....I feel for you and your disappointment!

A couple of days ago I booked Lhr-Sin-Per old suites for 1 for Feb 2019...just noticed a new config saver available a couple of days later....rang and changed incurred $35 change fee....very happy.....

I have flown the new Suites twice and I agree the meal eating position isn’t very good. I’m currently in an old Suite ex London and it’s still very good. The soft product is also still excellent.

Is the only SYD-SIN service with the new suites still SQ232, departure/arrival times of 1215-1735?
ie there are no other services from SYD?

Thanks, I had a reschedule and may try to shift from a 777 F to new A380 suites!
Even with all the reviews I'm keen to try it once.

Rang to make some changes, hopefully to SQ232. Did some checking before I called - no SQ232 revenue availability but there is waitlist advantage availability! Saver not available. Phone operator says the cabin is not full but has to submit a request to management.

The thing I can't get used too is that if the FAs see you going to the toilet, they will rush to open the door for you....

Just remember to lock the door behind you as it's easy to forget to lock the door if you don't open it yourself ;)
Just speaking from experience :D

Having recently flown the old and new suites I have to say I MUCH prefer the old suites.

-The new suites just seem like a lot of wasted space

-The recliners are annoying-they don’t recline enough so that when in your PJs you are constantly sliding out of the chair!!

-The recliner doesn’t line up directly with the TV so you are slightly off centre if that make sense

-If traveling with companions you can’t dine together unlike the old ones

-The seat isn’t as comfortable as the old one

-The seat and TV control is very confusing. For example you can’t operate the TV unless the seat is turned fully to face the other TV

All in all I just feel like the new is good in theory but bad in reality. It doesn’t have the intimacy of the old-for example it is so nice to be able to dine with your partner on the same table in the same cabin in he old, in the new you can’t. You are very secluded and isolated. Also the old beds are much closer so feels like a genuine ‘double’ bed where as the new has a distinct gap.

The new has all this room around you which ‘looks’ good but serves no purpose unless you want to walk laps around your suite. The toilet is another example of this-a massive room but for what? Who wants to do exercise in a bathroom? Should have definitely put in a shower.

I guess all in all it may suite solo pax, but for everyone else I’d go with the old in a heart beat.

Thanks for that bean, I'm looking forward to my own first experience in four weeks (not that I'm counting down or anything).

I wonder, is there anyone else (like me) who prefers SQ 773 one-row F to Suites?

We have been doing that to the US in recent times. We do prefer the A380 Suites.

Thanks bean.I have just booked our first suites award and at first disappointed that not the new suites.Have booked the middle 2 suites in Row 3-row 2 already booked.
Eating together is great for us and we are on the day flight to LHR.

No worries, you will LOVE the old suites, much better IMHO!

This is the best way to do this leg IMO, and we enjoyed it immensely in April. Much better of a use of suite that using it for a night flight and breakfast. A long day flight like this allows one to fully enjoy and take advantage of all the food, wine and service that flying in a Suite offers.

TIP: Have breakfast in the TPR, select the Kyo-Kaiseki as your breakfast BTC selection on the flight, but actually have it as your lunch (just ask the staff to serve at a time that suits you and the have the lunch as your dinner.

This gains maximum value plus starts getting your body adjusted to London time.

Japanese Kyo-Kaiseki: A traditional Japanese array of dishes presented in sequence, with ingredients and garnishes reflecting and changing with each season. Designed by Singapore Airlines International Culinary Panel Chef Yoshihiro Murata (inclusive of Breakfast service and available only on flights with duration of 2 hours or more; some items are served at cabin temperature).

Totally agree. My SO had the Kyo-Kaiseki for breakfast on our flight inbound - we had gone to sleep as soon as we reached cruising altitude out of SIN and woke up about 4 hours into the flight to dine. I stupidly left my selection at Lobster - all lobstered out by that stage even if they couldn't fit it all on one plate...

Would love to have another run in SQ F Suites. Have a few flights waitlisted for later in the year so we will see if I am in luck.

Hi all thank for the thread and info on First Class product.
The question is... no First Class from Brisbane.
Therefore i want to try but I don't really want to Waste points on Flexi fare for new type of suites.
Is old one with A 380 still worth it? or I shouldn't really bother...flying from Brisbane to Sydney just to try First class then change in Singapore again for Denpasar...just too many stopovers.

If i decide to go to Japan for Snowboarding then I maybe Able to fly to Tokio in First ....
Any thoughts?

The existing (old) suites in some ways are better than the new ones, and on some ways not.

Our priority is:
1) Find 2 available suites via Krisflyer points
2) 'Discuss' who sits where
3) Worry about whether they're the old or new version.

The idea of looking into your neighbour's eyes (across the aisle) while eating is a BIG NEGATIVE to us. The larger space is a positive but given that often when you find available award suites then quite often on the actual flight - spare suites are available - so more space (old suites vs new suites) becomes a moot point.

I suspect this has much to do with SIA's decsion to increase the size but halve the number of 1st suites.
