The website is confusing and had a bit of a search but couldn't find much...

Does anyone know what the exact fees/conditions attached to cancelling a redemption are? The little popup on the redemption search page says for GuestSeat can't refund or change ticket. But then the fare rules say:

CANCELLATIONS PERMITTED FOR CANCEL/REFUND.
NOTE - TEXT BELOW NOT VALIDATED FOR AUTOPRICING.
REFUNDS PERMITTED AT 2000 ETIHAD GUEST MILES

Then further down it says:

GENERAL RULE - APPLY UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED
NOTE - TEXT BELOW NOT VALIDATED FOR AUTOPRICING.
CANCELLATIONS -
WHEN COMBINED WITH A NON-REFUNDABLE FARE -TICKET
IS NON-REFUNDABLE.
WHEN COMBINED WITH A REFUNDABLE FARE - APPLY
HIGHEST PENALTY OF ALL FARE COMPONENTS.

So if the ticket on the booking page says non-refundable, is it non-refundable according to general rules or does the 2000 points charge override this?

Refunds are permitted for 2,0000 miles.

This is self explanatory WHEN COMBINED WITH A NON-REFUNDABLE FARE -TICKET IS NON-REFUNDABLE.

I think the non refundable for the awards kicks in when a paid ticket is non refundable and you upgrade with miles
so the miles take on the tickets non refundable status.
that is how it was explained to me
i booked a biz ticket then upgraded one leg.
then i wanted to un upgrade the leg and was told I would have to pay the change fee on the ticket .
even though I was not changing anything but the upgrade
so I waited as I thought I may need to cancel the whole ticket
then the miles came back at no cost though I had a $100 cancellation fee.

hope that makes sense.
oh also if you are gold you don't pay the 2000 points cancel fee.
