My SG status expires on the 31st of oct this year and I will be 600 SC short of renewal.

Is there a way of burning some points (I have 320,000) to re qualify for SG or better still, hit WP?

Or am I dreaming? I

would prefer WP, that way I can wear my hi vis $ thongs in the domestic business lounges! (Kidding)

You may have to book a JASA pretty soon before the new rules come into effect. That would be a good start I think.

You're 600 SCs short of QF SG renewal? That means you haven't done any QF flying at all since 01 Nov 13, given the target is 600 SCs.

Don't mean to be rude but why bother?

I wouldn't worry about it unless I had a DSC and then I would book JASA's. Otherwise better off using the points for classic awards on J/F :)

TBH don't bother.

320K points can do quite alot of things, think SYD-DXB-SYD in F or a OneWorld J Award 35,000miles.

Those two things trump WP any day.

Actually I'll do about 30 sectors on QF this year. But as all are either charter or points redemptions there are no status credits.

The lounge access is actually very important to me.

Someone is taking the piss?

How much free time do your have? When?

Are you willing to visit the USA?

How much can you spend aside from points?

It is possible to get WP still, but you need to start looking and booking ASAP ...

I'd struggle to find time to go to the USA! I'd prob cough up to maybe $1,000 + points if I could fit it in. I'm on a 2 week on 1 week off roster!

In one statement says you are going to be 600SCs short of SCs, but then you mention this.

Nope, I'm actually serious. But it appears to be in vain. Might have to salary sacrifice QP Membership so!

Getting to 600scs will keep gold.

I would look at heading north to Malaysia, or even Hong Kong with a side trip to Taipei.

I think if you only have 320,000 points and only want to spend $1,000 then I think you are out of luck.

The old favorite KTA-BNE via PER and MEL earns 400 SCs for 72000 points and approx $615 co-payment - at least up until the 30th of June. This is one of the best value runs that's nearish you.

Repeat 3 times and you'd be near platinum, so two years of lounge access - particularly if you do a PER-KTA return for positioning (120SCs in J).
