I usually fly with Virgin. I applied for the Qantas Fast Track as I have Velocity Gold. I only just sent my details to them but noticed I can call a number if I have a flight in the next 10 days, which I do. I have a flight on Feb 11 and 12 with Qantas.

My Questions are. I have points to use for my return flight which is fine. But I also need to book an extra ticket for my Sister which is in Cash.
I can't for the life of me work out how to do a points plus pay booking with Qantas, it keeps sending me in a loop.

So, if I book the tickets seperate will I still be able to bring my sister as a guest into the lounge if we aren't on the same booking number? I haven't used a Qantas lounge before so don't really know the rules surrounding guests etc

My flights are Canberra - Sydney return.

If you're entitled to use the QF lounge then you're guest does not need to be on the same booking as you. In fact, prior to Covid, your guest didn't even need to be flying.

Such a shame Virgin aren't flying on my dates, the Qantas tickets are 3 times the price I paid with Virgin but they were cancelled and aren't flying that route again until the 22nd of Feb.

Will be interesting going into a Qantas lounge though, I have heard they are much better than Virgin. Just hope I can call and get the fast track application done before my flight.
 
@wendlle You're in luck - as the Qantas Club in CBR is closed, you'll get to experience the Business lounge instead...

Why not book yourself on the cash fare to collect the SC towards your fast track challenge, and book your sister with points? The only thing she'll miss out on is earning points/SC from the flight, otherwise it's an identical experience?

Omg I didn’t even think of that in fact I didn’t know I could even do this.
When I got to the payment page it has my details already in there and didn’t let me change them to another passenger I’m sure of it.
Anyway it’s booked now and can’t be changed.
bummer. But to be honest I don’t think I would have got the challenge completed as my next set of flights were with virgin to use my credits and not sure when I’ll be flying again.
 
Classic reward bookings can be cancelled without penalty until 30 April...
Thanks, I have already paid for my sisters ticket also. I think it would be a lot of hassle to change both. When I don't think I will travel again before the May deadline to get 100 SC.
If I was going to QLD with Qantas in March instead of Virgin then I 100% would have made the change and possibly got enough SC but I needed to use a travel credit, so will just stick with trying to retain my Velocity status, which is also suspect. I don't think I'll retain gold with them either as my bookings kept getting cancelled and my review date is in August and I only have 1 flight which is the one in March (although I do have family pooling for myself and 3 other members of my family)
 
Just a little update, I was able to call and get the Fast Track added as of today for my flight tomorrow. I still have my Red Bronze card showing in my app, not sure if this is supposed to be this way or not?
Really don't want to get to the airport and have issues getting into the lounge.

Also, I'm assuming face masks are required in the lounge and we just remove them when eating/drinking? I looked online but can't find any official answers.
 
As a Qantas club member courtesy of the fast track promo, can I take a guest who is on the same flight into the lounge with me.

and finally, last question, if the expiry date is showing May 2021. Is this valid until the end of May or does it expire at the start:confused:
 
Yes,. you should be able to take a guest - subject to lounge capacity restrictions. Expiry is end of the month, so May 31, 21.

You will have to wear a mask from the time to set foot in the terminal, but once you get into the lounge it's about applying common sense. The seating in the CBR Lounge is spread out so you're not close to others, plus the staff bring out your food and drinks. I normally keep the mask on if I'm near other people but keep it off when eating and drinking
