Earlier this week I was looking at QF for a ADL-SFO-LAX-ADL flight, cattle class and it was $1879, which I thought was reasonable.
I just looked 10 mins ago and its now down to about $1350:):):):):):)
How cheap can it be to travel? And how do you make money at $1350 per passenger.
About to dive in and make the booking for November

I still cant believe that its only $1185 all the way to MEL-NYC and back!

I guess they figure they'll make more money from $1350 per passenger then from an empty seat. Good for the passengers of course. :D

Wish the PE and J fares would drop in the same way!

It's cheaper to fly to the USA than going to BKK ... that's unbelievable, even with the unrest there at the moment.

Perhaps it is not just a matter of competition. I can think of a number of carriers that fly SYD-BKK direct and others with one stop.

We have QF, BA, TG, EK flying direct and VA, SQ, MH, CX with one stop. Airfares are still ridiculously expensive.

Hmmm, interesting.

I got my ADL-SFO-LAX-ADL in Nov.for just under $1400 return which saved me a bundle. Checked my seating allocation, and I'm allocated exit seats over and back without requesting them.
Then I decided to book my next trip to LAS in Jan/Feb 2011 while the specials were on.
Turned out it was $2350 RETURN to LAS and back to ADL. I think I'll wait and see if there is another sale closer to the event, otherwise I think I'll use points.

Do you mean bulkhead seats? How can a Silver be pre-allocated exit row seats when even a Platinum cannot request them anymore and needs to pay for exit row seats?
