Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Former US President Jimmy Carter and 2 Secret Service agents @ Denver International trying to sneak from airside tarmac to the terminal.

They should have reserved a private meeting room and worn big sunnies like every other self-respecting celeb in T1 ;p

They were sitting at the bar, so maybe that was more important that privacy. :D Besides I thinking the meeting rooms might have been taken.

Not sure if the guy is famous....I had just boarded a DJ flight BNE to MEL and was having a look at the Business channel on the entertainment system. The guy next to me asked what they were saying and as it was during the GFC, I wittily said "sell everything". After which my partner, nudged me to take another look at the guy...to my embarrassment he was actually one of the people on the panel on the show I was watching.....

Was this recent and have to do Jimmy Carter's visit(s) to Cuba? It's not everyday you see a Mr (or ex) President.

1. Jacqueline Gillespie (now Pascarl) in 1A from Melbourne to Sydney - this was Ansett and it was a first class seat, it was not long after she and her kids had been a big news story.

2. Little Pattie (Patricia Amphlett), QF Brisbane to Sydney. Heartbreakingly beautiful lady, big friendly smile on her face.

3. Penrith Panthers, QF Sydney to Brisbane. Big - enormously big! guys, I cringed a little when I realised that we were sharing a flight but once we were on the plane you wouldn't have known they were there.

4. Radio shock-jock Alan Jones at Sydney checkin. No comment.

About 1998 from memory. Not sure what he was up to. I didn't spot him at first, I was concentrating on the Secret Service men because of the pins on their lapels. They looked quite concerned someone would be looking at them and not the former Pres.

Yesterday, Dr Harry in the DJ lounge at SYD. Big cheerful smile, sat by himself and made a few calls.
I then boarded a SYD to OOL flight, seat 3 F, and Wendy Harmer boards and sits in row 4.

In rapid succession last Friday morning at MEL:

  • the utterly gorgeous Sigrid Thornton, striding towards her gate.
  • ahead of us in the queue at the Budget counter, one Tracey Bowden.

This week- Dave O'Neill, MEL-PER on Wednesday morning.
Same day- could have been Julie Anthony at Perth domestic terminal.

Deborah Hutton in J on QF31 SIN-LHR on 17 April. She must've been up in Emerald City (we were in row 17) as she came back towards the rear of J or to the Y+ cabin perhaps, twice during the flight. I was wondering if it was a friend back there, or a nanny with her child. <evil grin> Had J PJs on, so she hadn't come up the stairs from F.

On QF32 on the way home on Mon 9/5, saw a producer from the Today show check in. Not all that interesting, but we did wonder if she had flown over with Karl and was involved in those shenanigans.

At LAX T4 security line on Sat 14/5, I'm sure I saw Cote de Pablo (Agent Ziva David on NCIS). She was being escorted by a man in a black suite through security, etc. I guess she ended up in the AA Flagship lounge; as my points from SIN-BNE hadn't processed yet, I was still only SG as far as QF and AA knew, so had to slum it in the regular admiral's club. :p

MIL was rather disappointed we didn't see more famous people on our trip (Deborah Hutton was the only one, and MIL didn't spot her on the flight). We did see Kevin Rudd and chat to him in Villers-Bretonneux on ANZAC day, but that wasn't in-flight or lounging, so that doesn't count here, does it? ;)

Ed Halmagyi in 34A yesterday on QF759 to ADL...big DYKWIA...last on board in a foul mood tossing stuff on his chair. (annoyed at no op up probably).

Proceeded to type out new recipes after reading Jamie Oliver's new Spanish cookbook!

On arrival got straight on the phone in a loud whinge about someone's 'inappropriate tone'.

IDKWTI (I dont know who that is). Still, that's usually a prerequisite for pulling the DYKWIA line.

I'm informed that he's a minor celebrity on a moderately successful show on a moderately successful Australia network, i.e. in the real world, a nobody.

Masterchef's Matt Preston in the SYD QF J lounge on April 8.

He was also on the same SYD-Mel flight as me, along with FiFi Box from Sunrise.

James Morrison (the trumpet play, not the singer) in the SYD DJ lounge and on my SYD-MEL flight last Saturday May 21

Saw Bob Hawke in SYD T3 this morning, going through security with his shoes and jacket off like the rest of us poor slobs :)

I then followed him (coincidentally, not in a stalker kind of way) up the escalator where he wandered into the CL Lounge, while I went to the J Lounge.
