Cases where the "real world" gets pulled into "AFF world" ... having lunch with my wife at Balmoral (ye olde fancy Sydney harbourside suburb) on Tuesday, and sitting at the table behind us is Neil Perry. I guess enjoying being on the customer end of the restaurant experience.

I briefly checked, he wasn't eating 2 small pieces of lettuce arranged in as close a simulation of an artistic way as one can achieve on aircraft-size plates. So obviously he was branching out from what he must normally eat? It was one of those situations where, although I wouldn't get near close to even considering doing it, I had this inner self-amusing thought about asking him why he'd branched out on this rare occasion ...

Ryan Harris in the ADL J lounge and my flight.

It doesn't really count though since he is a mate of mine and we already knew that we were on the same flight and had arranged to meet in the lounge.
 
Today I found out that I am sort of related to someone up and coming in Musical Theatre. She is one of my surrogate granddaughters. She appeared in the play Marvellous appearing as Pony Tony as well as being the choreographer. She was in the Australian shows.
An American saw the show and offered her 3 months in the USA to do the same roles in SF,LA and Vegas. She has another job coming up here
and could only do the first month in SF.
On her last night the producer arranged for her to be presented flowers and introduced the audience. She got a standing ovation and several encores. The producer sent her parents a copy of the video

I knew she would be successful from her childhood. She always had the ability to say the right thing at the right time to the right person.
 
I guess ill pop vanessa hudson onto the list here. Syd - mel 7 am. Me in elevated stress mode because digital boarding pass had issues on Friday. Got my physical boarding pass sped through security, straight to gate, straight onto aerobridge as group 1 had started and almost straight into her back as the crew was greeting her.

Interestingly she was in row 4 and not Business despite 1A being open.

Does row 4 still have knee room like in the Olden Days?

Still, she’s likely aware of the optics, given how little it matters for a 1.5hr flight (even if that 1.5hr flight was a 1hr flight on the exact same aircraft 20yrs ago :)).

Row 4 probably has the most leg room ever right now. They haven't adjusted the leg room for business class yet so row 4 has something like 50in or so.

But yes - since I watched her walk straight into Chairman's lounge (I was using the J lounge on arrival), there's no real other amenities necessary on board.
