I am flying Qantas SYD-SFO with wife and 4 kids and have requested points upgrade from business to first for all 6. Acknowledge very unlikely we would all be upgraded, however if I get upgraded and they don’t, can I transfer my upgrade to my wife at check-in? Not sure if this is relevant but I am gold and they are not FFs
Cheers

What date are you flying?

Also, is it one booking for all passengers? If one booking then either all or none get upgraded.

Nup - read my last trip report - I got a J upgrade and my travel partner stayed in cattle - lucky it was only SIN/SYD and not LHR/SYD, I would never heard the end of it...

Mr!

How is that so?

All QF info says that either all or none of the passengers in the same booking get upgraded.

I would get them all to join. That return trip alone will get them to silver for almost 2 years and 18.5k points.

Or if booked on the AA codeshare, they all get Platinum status for the next little while (but lose the slight possibility of F upgrade).

I kid you not.....:!:
Were you and your 'boss' on the same PNR?
...Tuesday 29th April
SIN / SYD – QF 32 & QF 489

Premium check in at Changi, my upgrade has been confirmed but not my companions. This is an awkward situation, he’s my boss, he’s in cattle, he’s paid the FF points into my account for the upgrades – who gets the seat? I offered it to him, he didn’t want it – one chance, no more offers, that’s it, I’m J on the way home, he’s in cattle. ...

Oh come on... .be honest... you planned it that way didn't you?

I think they must have been on separate bookings or as you more correctly say, had separate "PNRs". Most companies book separately for staff travelling together and then cross reference the PNRs so that people are seated together (assuming they are all in the same class)

Strangely my colleague and I who used to travel together always asked not to be seated together - we got enough of that when we were on site for two weeks. Even to the degree when flying F on QF we sat in A and K :D

Most of the time i prefer not to sit near people i work with unless they are good friends. But generally our status's and preferences ensure we are not close to each other.

Often on say a 777 we we will check in together ask D & F and if they can block E, that is a good situation.

Thanks for the responses. I am under separate booking to wife + kids so if I get upgraded I will just swap seats with my wife if allowed - earns brownie points

They are on AA program which I understand is a better points redemption value but not possible to tfr between family members?
cheers

There have been a few flights recently SYD-SFO with very low loads in F.... so you might be lucky in getting all 6 upgraded.
