A relative is donating their 30,300 Skywards points to me however a family transfer does not make sense at (US2.5c/point). I want to book 2x Y to SYD-PER which is 36,000. I have a warehouse of points in AMEX however they will only let me send to my name, not my relatives name (same last name).

So to make up the 6,000 points I need to spend $240USD with EK ($312 AUD), which again does not make economical sense.

Any suggestions? Ideas?

My only thought is to transfer points to my EK account and then send to my relative (US2.5/c point - $195 AUD)

What about half and half? book 1 x Y and transfer what is left

Can't use Cash + Miles on EK only (no QF flights) which SYD-PER would be. And the classic awards don't apply to Cash + Miles.

I think the transfer 6k points from AMEX to EK then transfer them to my relative at (US2.5c) is the best option financially.
