Had a Phising email this morning re a flight on JQ, looked just like the real JQ Page (as they do), wanted me to click the attachment, no way I would, funny thing is I don't fly jetstar. Had another one from FEDEX don't use them either.

I got 2 of them this morning; and the main work email account got 6.

Usually Jetstar have your name somewhere on the page and the attachment is usually a pdf file not a zip file.

Just an update;

[h=5]Remember: Jetstar no longer sends itineraries as PDF attachments. When we send you an itinerary, all your flight details are included in the body of the email.[/h]

Fedex,DHL,UPS I get one or 2 a day.

A fake JQ itinerary turned up in our spam filter the other day, destined for one of our shared mailboxes. Looked the part, had a PNR etc. Should have saved a screenshot before deleting.

Yes that was the 1st giveaway, I never open any of them no matter how good they are.

I've often wondered why ISP's don't do a blanket warning every month or so to all customers warn of the dangers, many on computers and not savvy to it.

I received one as well, it mentioned "Jetstar Business Class", straight away I realised it had to be a fake.

If you are worried about an email, don't just look at the body of the message, check the headers. The return address (ie the From: line) is easy to fudge, but the Received: lines give you the real info.

Unsurprising. Only people stupid enough to fly the orange cancer would fall for a stunt like this.

Jetstar scam itineraries

Just reported:

Jetstar warns passengers of email scam

Jetstar has warned customers about scam emails featuring fake itineraries that may contain a computer virus. The airline said on its Facebook page that some people had reported receiving the fake itineraries and warned customers not to open any attachments on the emails. The emails have the subject line "Jetstar Flight Itinerary".

Careful out there.

Re: Jetstar scam itineraries

The JQ CEO mentioned this today.

She talked about the FB incident - at first stating that JQ's FB had been hacked, before correcting herself and stating that someone had "copied and impersonated the JQ page" before then saying that they sent out the fake email. I'm not sure if she deliberately meant to state that the same people were responsible for both or if she was just being lazy and simplistic with syntax.

Re: Jetstar scam itineraries

This morning we also received fake itineraries from 'Virgin Blue':

Fake JQ Email

I got a flight itinerary from JQ a couple of days ago. Tempting to look at but NO as I don't have any JQ bookings :!:

I have six so far. Three of them into a company email address that I keep really "clean". I never get spam into this address but somehow they got in.

Re: Fake JQ Email

As reported above, Virgin Australia are aware of the issue:

Virgin Australia ‏@VirginAustralia We're aware some customers have received a fake itinerary email containing potentially harmful software. Please do not open these emails.

So today I received an email from Emirates about our itinerary for next July. Thought it was another spam. It wasn't. But I guess only an idiot would mess with Emirates.

There's a heap doing the rounds ATM. Faxes, scanned documents, all sorts of scams. Generally, as said before, don't randomly click links in emails (or never).
