Hi guys,

First, sorry if there is a thread somewhere with this info, I did not find it.

I live in the US and I'm planning to go to Sydney in Feb-March and I'm thinking flying business class. I flew business from London to Sydney in 2016 with BA for about 2000 GBP return (that was very cheap), so I kinda know what kind of prices you can expect for that route. Although, I'm new to the US, and I don't really know if the prices I see now are low or fair or expensive for the route.

At the moment, I'm seeing the lowest prices for direct flights between the US west coast and Oz east coast at around 4300 USD. Is this an already cheap price and I should jump on it ? Or is it more around the 'regular' price ? I don't think that it's on the expensive side, although, I feel like it's more a regular price and there might be a potential for a sales. I understand there is not such thing thing of regular price when it comes to airlines fares. I'm more looking for insights of regulars flying business on that route regarding their past experiences.

Also, the reason why I'm checking only direct flights is because I live in Texas and all the cheapest flights I could find so far are all from LAX or SFO (United and Qantas from Houston and Dallas are more than 6000 USD return). That means I'll have to add a flight to the west coast to hop to Oz, and so, I don't really want to do another stop in the middle like Hawaii.

Thanks in advance for your help !
Cheers

@GuillaumeTexas , Welcome to AFF. :)

LAX and SFO to from Oz is competitive, not so much from TX.

UA, AA, QF, VA, DL, NZ*, HA*, FJ* all provide reasonable services.

Its only QF from DFW and UA, NZ* from HOU.

*Has pacific island transit(s)

I don't see that as cheap.

The problem is prices are rising out of the US (for a number of reasons) and what was cheap in the past may not eventuate again (until another cycle). So it's hard to say whether there will be better opportunities in the near term.

BTW, What I often find is that TX to CA return nested with a separate CA coast to Oz return is often less expensive than direct from Texas.
