FA forgets to serve meal!

In your complaint letter, it’s always useful to specify what compensation you’re after (eg. 5000 velocity points.

I'm not sure that would make any difference, but I'll keep it in mind for next time.

Had similar happen in Y recently on an early morning BNE-MEL flight. The FA who would have served my row for some reason had to go back up the front to get something. By the time she came back the FA on the other side of the trolley had moved it down a row and so we were forgotten. Didn’t bother saying anything as I wasn’t too fussed whether I ate or not.

In this case you’ve already received an apology, been given something else to eat and received a bottle of wine when disembarking. Seems a pretty good recovery to me. What more do you want?
I was a little annoyed that I had to buy lunch, but maybe you're right.

While in this case it was a bit of "didn't realise it" , at other times there may be a bit of "should I remind them" - most people don't want to come across as being impatient.

Scenario:
You ask for a drink.
Drink never comes
Do you wait 5,10,15,30min before pressing call button?
Thank you - I think that was the case.

I think a few thousand Velocity points would be reasonable compensation.

FWIW the OP’s post doesn’t come across to me as entitled, as some here seem to be suggesting. They simply stated what happened.
Thank you, but judging by the responses of others, I don't think that'll be happening...

I flew SYD-OOL last night in J and we were not offered any meal. Don't know why and it didn't bother me. I had eaten in the lounge. Nobody else seemed worried about it as well. (7/8 in J)
So there was no announcement made or explanation given about lack of catering? And not one of 7 passengers asked?

Was there bad turbulence or something that prevented the service?

I also flew last night and it was quite bumpy - I was honestly half expecting not to get a meal because I expected we'd all need to stay seated most of the flight.

I'm curious to know how you didn't realise this much earlier when others got theirs?
In my experience, I was in a single seat by bulk head slightly ahead of the middle so I was a little isolated. My table was laid and I kept thinking they’re getting to me but they did not. It was a long haul USA to AU. Very embarrassed & apologetic staff. I reckon one of the crew had my meal !

A little bit. They didn't serve hot beverages in the main cabin however a few in J had coffee and tea. It was only bumpy through the clouds.

No announcement except that coffee and tea would not be served in the main cabin. There was no reason given. The couple in 1A and 1C seemed a bit perplexed after a conversation with the FA at the beginning. I didn't hear the conversation however she seemed to over service them during the flight making sure there drinks were always topped up.

Years ago any business complaint you would get 10,000 velocity points.

I’ve only flown business class once with Qantas and they didn’t have my choice available and what they had I was allergic to. I said I was happy with an economy meal and they responded that they’re unable to offer the economy meal to business class passengers. I didn’t even like their alcohol options and ended up having gin and tonic. End result they kept on offering a refill. I’m amazed I was able to walk, let alone remember the experience.

Seems like pretty decent service recovery to me. Can't complain about a complimentary bottle of wine. Of course, one can always visit the lounge on arrival for a top-up if one has status.

Actually, I've been pretty happy with the meals I've gotten in J on VA. Perhaps you're right - I'm just annoyed that I had to buy lunch.

VA sangas not up to the job? Dunno your VA status or if J tix get arrivals access, but I, as a WP, nearly always pop in to the lounge on the way out for a quick bit and take-away coffee.
