F Lounge Enhancements

The food and service are fine but I don't like the barn-like atmosphere and every time I catch the night flight to Narita the sound of the vacuum cleaner accompanies my meal. Much prefer the QF F lounge at Melbourne-more like a club.
 
Sorry amaroo, I have to disagree I have had very good service in LHR CCR and am looking forward to the one in JFK next month. The staff have been attentive to guess walking around ask if you need another drink and nibbles - I make use of the cabanas for a couple of hours. I am curious as to why you feel they are a poor F lounge??

Agreed.
I'm usually in a state of dishabille by the time I notice the deficiencies, so it's not exactly convenient.
And good luck finding someone to ask.
 
AJ was recently quoted that they are spending $50k pa to replace nicked teaspoons:shock: Wonder how many of them are confiscated at the next security point!

Cost them $50K cos they buy from Marc Newson and not Ikea!
 
If the toiletries are missing it is generally because one of our fellow members using the lounge has decided they are worth a five finger discount. Seriously people I've watched them do it.

I always assumed that each kevin murphy shampoo, conditioner and moisturiser were thrown out after each use. Surely taking them and using them is better than leaving them to be discarded?

I think aoz48x is referring to people going in and taking unused ones.
 
No - I wont cut QF a break.

I agree - no reason to cut them any slack; I know that your assessment is not necessarily based on an "isolated incident".

It is still a good lounge, but the premium shine it had before is starting to decay off.

I cannot agree with your statement of top 3 lounges anywhere in the world - what is your statement based on?

As far as First Class Lounges go, the consensus of the top 3 seems to be Thai, Lufthansa and Qatar.

Which is kind of fine with me (I don't agree with Thai being in the top 3 myself), but Qantas should definitely be in the top 10.

The World Airline Awards only measure the top 3. And Forbes must be either only going for Business Class lounges and/or they have rocks in their head, because I can hardly agree with their list of the top ten lounges (i.e. not all of those that they have listed).

Well, if people are ducking into empty suites and nicking more than their share, it does start to get beyond Qantas' control, but in saying that they should start instigating a stricter system.


One of the main curses that SYD QF F has is that it needs to cater for a far larger number of pax than its MEL counterpart. It probably has to handle at least twice as many pax as MEL does, but it is hardly twice as big, and the service / staff loading is hardly scaled up to that multiple either. When it first opened, it was probably fine, but it's barely cutting mustard now.

I definitely enjoy my time at the MEL F Lounge more than the SYD one, even if we discount the less flights at MEL meaning a quieter lounge. (Why isn't the MEL QF F Lounge in the top 10 F Lounges in the world???)
 
I use the QF F lounge extremely regularly and have never found fault with it. People's expectations are (sometimes) too high. The food is always fantastic (looking at you Pavolva with Persian Fairy Floss) and the service impeccable. I do think, however, that access should be slightly restricted. Perhaps, have the F lounge as that 2,400 status credit benefit with Platinum? That would significantly reduce numbers in the lounge. But other than that it is great. I would say that it even trumps the LH F Terminal. In any high class establishment it has bad days and good days. This has even happened in the CL a few times (i.e taking my boarding pass on entry and misplacing it).
 
I've only been to the Flounge 4 times I think (but aspiring to use more often :))
I've not been able to fault the service and amenities provided during my visit... but recognise 4 is a small sample size.

I'm not looking for perfection, I'm looking for great.

Perfection can be tense and lack warmth, and it's why I also prefer QF & CX service onboard over SQ.

Wow, I had a read of that thread, it is amazing how quickly people ignore the valid points raised in your OP and lead off on tangents. The other amazing thing is how your 2 follow up posts mid thread that are succinct, polite and to the point clearly stating everything are totally ignored by all posters, by that time they are off topic arguing about all manner of things, quite hilarious really.

I can't say I find FT the most hospitable place and find it much better over here on AFF. I usually only go there when I have pretty specific information I am after which with a greater reach is likely to get answered quicker from first hand experience on FT, but otherwise everything else seems to be a b$tch and moan fest at times.

I'd agree with the sentiment that the MEL Flounge is more club like, always way less people than the SYD Flounge in my limited experience.

I still have to pinch myself that I am fortunate enough to time trips to SYD to catch JQ36 and can have a very nice time Flounging.

The day that happens I'll drop down to QF Gold and spread my loyalty among airlines.

As for service going down hill - I had a run of visits where I had my meal forgotten about twice, drink orders not turn up and the pièce de résistance was a waiter spilling sauce from a plate all over me before placing it down and running off leaving me to clean up the mess.

Some of those incidents including the spillage have been from the same waiter. I now specifically do not sit in his area if he's on.

When I went to NZ in Feb, it took them half an hour to get me a glass of orange juice. Then when this woman finally got it, she spilt it all over me. I don't think I have given anyone a nastier death-stare in all my life.

Or stop giving out double status credits. 1 SG who gets double status credits end up bringing 4 people into the F lounge on their family overseas holiday.

+1 My experience was the same - didn't know this forum existed until I had been on the other for awhile. Sooo much nicer here
 
You should all stop whinging. Some of us would have to go well out of our way to get access to the F Lounge. :evil:
 
F lounge will be getting busier, I was there a couple of weeks ago heading of to Manila and there were a couple of US flights due to go out, was very busy.

IMO the lounge handles the peak times pretty well!

What is doesn't handle well are the tossers that insists on spending their entire time in the lounge sitting at a dining table - well after they have consumed three or more courses:mad:

Eat, drink, enjoy & then move on so that someone else can do the same.

In around 6 months you will be able to hop over to SIN for a re-freshed Flounging indulgence :D
