F Lounge access for WP flying QF codeshare on non-OW airlines

I'm in the F lounge with SWMBO. We had no problem getting in flying on SB metal. Looks like it's just poor grammar/syntax in the lounge access rules.

So, it's not possible for a WP to gain access to F lounge when flying a Qantas marketed FJ operated flight?
My boss is flying this route in a couple of weeks, I'll ask him to test that.

At the end of the day it probably comes down to the interpretation of whichever lounge attendant is working that day unless they have a much clearer "cheat sheat" on entry requirements.

I still say it's vague enough for both interpretations to be valid enough though the *intent* seems more clear. The wording for WP in F lounges is poor IMHO.

All I can add is the F lounge at MEL made calls for FJ flight to NAN when I was there... must have been a bunch of P1's on that flight in the lounge

The ambiguity is ridiculous given that FJ is 46pc owned by QF. Further, JQ competing on Fiji flights is extremely odd given the shareholding and that Fiji wages should be cheaper than Australian JQ LCC conditions to begin with.

Not sure if this is addressed in a different thread, but a friend recently flew to Fiji, with Fiji Airways on a QF ticket. They are WP and were allowed into the Flounge (Sydney). A bit of sweating going on the day before though.....Rules do seem to say "Operated and marketed"

That was how it used to be - in fact I have prosecuted this for several years regarding the way that has read. See this from FT back in 2010:Anyway, in the clear light of day, no access for that WP travelling on FJ metal with a QF flight number, while a WP1 does get access.

This is how I see the intended breakdown for WP:And for WP1:So, QF*EK, EK*QF, QF*JQ, QF*BA gets access for a WP, but not for QF*FJ or QF*MU.

So apparently QF closed the WP1 "OW marketed-only" loophole (if it was ever intentional or not). Now the LAX F lounge eligibility reads the same for WP and WP1 regarding OW flights, but apparently WP1 now have access flying EK

Just to update this thread and just in time before my next flight to NOU on a QF codeshare operated by SB. It now seems that QF finally made it crystal clear on their website that any flight with a QF number gives access to First class lounge for QF WP.

"Platinum members may access the following lounges when your next onward flight is on a Qantas39, Emirates39, Jetstar Airlines4 or oneworld operated and marketed flight32 regardless of class of travel."

Footnote 39: Qantas marketed flights are flights with a Qantas (QF) flight number on the ticket

Thirty-nine footnotes? Sweet Mother of God, no wonder even frequent flyers get confused.

And on that, though. I still see issues. That excerpt could be interpreted as meaning that your next onward flights on Qantas or on Emirates or on Jetstar or on oneworld must be both operated and marketed. As it is footnote 39 is out of place. It's listed as an applicable footnote alongside "Emirates" as well, yet the footnote reads "Qantas marketed flights are flights with a Qantas (QF) flight number on the ticket". What relevance does that have to Emirates? None.

Similarly, footnote 32 is listed alongside "oneworld operated and marketed flights" yet that footnote reads "Sapphire members can access Qantas international Business lounges and domestic Qantas Club lounges. Other lounge access conditions apply. See Qantas Club Terms and Conditions for complete lounge access information". Umm, what relevance does oneworld Sapphire have to "oneworld operated and marketed flights"? Again, none.

It's yet another example of a total balls-up on the QF site. It is nothing short of laughable to have that many footnotes which are essentially caveats. Totally ridiculous.

I would suggest the people creating the web pages don't fully know the rules and are simply trying to interpret some prepared by a copy writer wgo is equally not fully conversant.
