This is my first time at booking award seats. I am attempting to book 3 seats to london return leaving 23/9/06 and returning 15/10/06. I will pay for another seat for my other child. My problem is not in getting there, it's the getting home that has become a challenge. There appears to be nothing around that return date. The best I can do is 9/11/06 which cuts my holiday a bit short. Is it worth waiting to see if more seats are released or do I grab the 9/11/06 while it is available?

Thanks,
Joc

PS The return date I can get is 9/10 not 9/11!!!

When I do a search on the QF site it indicates that there are award seats available on the 17th Oct 06. It depends on how many points you have up your sleeve, but you might have to contact QF direct and book your award seats if you can't do it any other way. Others will correct me but I think its 2500 FF pts per pax to do this, and I also note that you are paying for one child which suggests you don't have that many points to play with.

Just another search and, Expert Flyer shows there being three X Class seats (Y award) on QF32 leaving LHR 12.15pm on 17th October 2006

This is this status thingy again.

Where are you travelling from Sydney?

I am plebby silver and I can get QF29 out on 23/9/06 plus a host of other flights, and return on 15/10/06 with CX252 to HKG and QF30 to SYD plus some other flights. Only problem being it is 64,000 points out and 80,000 points return. On the 16/10/06 (Monday) there is a great deal of flights returning to Sydney for 64,000 points only. One example is BA8736 to Frankfurt then QF6 to Sydney. There are plenty of flights, not sure how many award seats per flight though, available on the dates you specify so I think your status may have something to do with it. These booking you can do online anyway.

I think a normal award SYD-LHR is 128,000 points and for 142,500 points you can get around the world 1world explorer I think.

I am trying to get award flight to Singapore in April and there are so many award seats available it is amazing. This time last year I was having problems trying to get award seats to Singapore.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Where are you travelling from?

MEL? SYD? PER? CNS?

Anyway, if it is SYD then you can get three award Y seats on the following itinery:

QF30 LHR-HKG 15 Oct 12:20-16 Oct 07:15
QF128 HKG-SYD 16 Oct 21:10 -17 Oct 07:55

This has a 14 hour transit in HKG, you would have enough time for a quick look around the city and it's soghts.

The trick is not to look for LHR-<oz> seats; what you need is to do a Multi-Destination Itinerary LHR-SIN/BKK/HKG-<oz>. As long as the internation transit is less than 24 hours and you stick to the one carrier (eg QF-QF, CX-CX) you will only get charged points for as for LHR-<oz>. It may cost extra for taxes/levies/charges.
