I did not know that EF can tell the exact reason why a certain flight was cancelled? Is that a thing that EF can do?

it’s very airline dependent but sometimes you can see the reason in flight status (under additional comments).

I bought an annual subscription at the end of last year after the AFF workshop in Sydney, but to be honest, I haven't even used it. I think part of the problem is I don't quite understand when and how to use it to get the most benefits from it.

However, tools like seats.aero and Gyoza, I'm using every single week. I think part of the issue is that it just doesn't seem very user-friendly to me.

This is very true. Now, an AFF Masterclass on how to use EF - that is something I'd sign up for and learn

This is correct - especially the user friendly UI that makes it no different to searching for flights on an airline website (so to speak)

Yep you always see requests on the Facebook groups for someone with EF to tell them why a flight was cancelled.
Helps people claiming compensation under EC261 etc
