Received this morning by email... Wonder how many others have given up with them this past year.

I bought an annual subscription at the end of last year after the AFF workshop in Sydney, but to be honest, I haven't even used it. I think part of the problem is I don't quite understand when and how to use it to get the most benefits from it.

However, tools like seats.aero and Gyoza, I'm using every single week. I think part of the issue is that it just doesn't seem very user-friendly to me.

This is very true. Now, an AFF Masterclass on how to use EF - that is something I'd sign up for and learn

This is correct - especially the user friendly UI that makes it no different to searching for flights on an airline website (so to speak)

I did not know that EF can tell the exact reason why a certain flight was cancelled? Is that a thing that EF can do?
Yep you always see requests on the Facebook groups for someone with EF to tell them why a flight was cancelled.
Helps people claiming compensation under EC261 etc

I got this offer too. But the real killer feature of ExpertFlyer was always the award-space searches so now that that functionality has been gutted, I am not at all surprised they're haemorrhaging subscribers.

What do you mean it was gutted? Can you no longer do this?

I just cancelled my subscription so it won't renew in September. I'm not convinced I'm going to make any use of it.

They lost access to a bunch of airlines' award space, including pretty much all the useful ones. Given the timing, coinciding with when Air Canada Aeroplan started suing online sites using scraper tools, it was speculated that they were using a similar mechanism.

Interesting. One of the reasons that originally inspired me to sign up for Seats.Aero is because I read about Air Canada suing them and I wanted to support Seats.Aero in their fight against the big airline.

It's a ridiculous battle anyway. They're just providing something that consumers want. And I see in the new Qantas updates they're releasing this supposedly new tool that will help you find award space quickly. So they must be watching what's happening and realising that this is something that consumers want and need.
