Does anyone know what an "Exclusive Status Credits Bonus" is?

Four of them appear on my online statement, dating from the 23rd of November. They each give me the same number of status credits earned for the relative flights (effectively giving me double staus credits for every flight). I have only flown domestic in this time so I don't know if it applies to international, but it does apply to both discount and full economy fares (I am currently at silver).

If anyone knows about it can they tell me how long this will be happening for and which flights qualify?

Cheers, Matt

QANTAS are giving selected Frequent Flyers double SCs to enable them to reach Gold quicker. It's a loyalty drive.

Are you far away from qualifying Gold, and from the end of your "year"?

My "year" ends in two and a half months and thanks to these bonuses I'm only 80 points off (with several more trips in the pipeline), so it looks as though I'll make it!!

It's funny that they never mentioned what all the points are in aid of, or maybe I'm just not paying enough attention. Mind you I looked all over their website too, and I still couldn't find mention of it.

Thanks for the info.

Status on Qantas seems to be much easier to reach than on other programs, and Qantas seems to want to almost give it away it seems, especially with these double bonus status credits.

For example, to retain your Gold status on Qantas would only take 2 return business class trips from HKG to LAX (on CX). To retain the equivalent oneworld status with Marco Polo club takes 4 return J class HKG to LAX trips.

No wonder there are always so many people in the Qantas Club - although its great to have status, it degrades the value and exclusivity of it if so many people have it.

You obviously haven't checked out the UA and AA schemes (amongst others from the Untied States).

QF status is reasonable easy to reach IF you travel on carefully construected routings in paid business or first class. Travel on discount economy fares and its not so easy.

The AA lack-of-challenge is the easiest was to OneWorld Sapphire status. One economy trans-Pacific will do it.

mattvdp, it was a double status credits targeted promotion to selected members to assist them to retain Silver or Gold status. You should have received an email from QF. Unfortunately, my wife deleted hers before I had read it.

Applies to doubling the SC's earned on all QF operated services between 15 Nov 2004 and 15 Feb 2005. Mrs LW was lucky in that she had 3 return flights (1 was K class) in November, so she re-qualified Silver with the bonuses SC's. She has another 60 SC's (120 after the bonus) before the time period ends.

See also this topic over at Flyertalk - Tech Noir posted the following T&C's from the email:

Status credits are only earned on Qantas operated services with a 'QF' flight number on your ticket. Flights operated by Australian Airlines and Jetstar with 'QF' on the ticket are excluded. Offer cannot be combined with any other offer. Your Qantas Frequent Flyer number must be recorded in your booking before travel has commenced. Status credits will be automatically tracked and credited to your account within 24 hours of travel. This offer is available only to selected Qantas Frequent Flyers and is not transferable.

Well my Silver status is up today (28th Feb 2005) but i just called up Qantas this morning and although I needed another 300 points to reach Silver retain status, because of my anticipated weekly travel to either MLB-SYD or some work in Malaysia, the nice lady agreed to let me keep my Silver status for another year.

Many other people at my work who have Gold were jsut given automatic extensions.

Regards
Daniel

Correct me if I am wrong but silver retainer is only 300 SC.
If you were 300 short....then you didnt fly at all ?

Typo, needed 200 SC more to retain but I still could have just squeeked by to get silver and not flown a single flight in that 12 month period.

I'll be putting that theory to the test today...............

Well, Qantas just sent me an email, saying that it looks like I won't make it to SILVER renewal....

I currently have 200 SC up, with three flights booked before my anniversary date. (to total 300 SC)

Certainly no double SCs for me !!!

regards,

So why were some FF selected and not others?

My husband needs 170 points to retain gold before 31 Mar (which he'll do by the skin of his teeth) but he's had quite a few flights between the dates mentioned and no double SC. If he had the double ups he'd only need a SYD/MEL to make it.

If he is THAT close to 600 SC's, they will comp him to Gold for another year - unless they have done so repeatedly in the past.

Dave

Well all I can say is I hope that you're right. However being a shy type who doesn't like to put himself forward I have to ask - how would he go about this?

Thank god his stupid boss that kept putting travel bans on (except for himself of course) is gone and now we've got one back that realises an Asia-Pacific role must come with some travel! Abscence makes the heart grow fonder and all that

I know how this feels. To some extent I have a national role, and in the last few months getting travel approved anywhere has been a struggle. Can't really fix the problem till the new financial year.

But with a March 31st annoiversary date, I would have expected such a retained comp would have come about 2 months ago. Its strange that he has not either had his current status retained (log onto QF FF web site and see if the new expiry date is actually reset to March 31, 2006) or received the email asking about future travel plans.
