Hi Everyone,

Just joined the community here. I love flying, whether as a passenger on a big jet or piloting myself in a tiny Cessna. Would love to learn to stretch my cash and points as far as I can so I can fly as much as I can. For me as soon as I step into the airport I'm on cloud 9 (If you'll pardon the very bad pun!).

Currently have 115,000 QFF points & bronze status which I'm hoping to boost. Only about 2000 Velocity points.

I'm looking forward to meeting other members of this community, hearing about your travel stories and learning what you might graciously be willing to teach.

Allons-y!

Welcome aboard logos_01, being an active member here can reap rewards. Who knows you might be a WP if you play the game properly.

Welcome to AFF [Blogos_01[/B]!

Head along to the Adelaide drinks nights.

Thank you everyone, I'm really looking forward to being a part of this community.

@Hvr I would love to be PW someday, atm I can only dream of such things.

@JohnK, sounds great John :) I'll keep an eye out for them. Will the times and places be posted on the events section of the forum?

Yes they are in the Meetings and Social Events section. There is one planned for September 2014 but I am sure there will be others.

Welcome logos_01.

I probably started on the same level as you here a couple of years ago (minus the pilot bit). Since then, I have hit WP with VA, did a first class return trip to Europe amongst other o/s and domestic trips, have amassed over 700,000 QF FF points and have another J class trip to US coming up this year.

Make sure you read as many threads as you can. The experts here are more than happy to help and are very generous with their advice.

Thanks John & Tom, I'll check out those threads and if I can will be there for sure!

@Robd wow! You're living my dream!! Haha. Having that status and doing trips like that would be amazing! Since joining the forum I've been reading a lot (probably been a little distracted at work lol), but I feel I'm only really scratching the surface at this stage. Trying to get on top on things like possible status runs and good ASA use.

I built up my 115,000 points over many years through flights and credit card purchases etc. My income is an average one (not to mention the HECS debt from my flight training scary to contemplate :/ ) so I suspect will take me a good while to reach the heights of QFF & VAFF you have. But I guess we all have to start somewhere. :)

Welcome logos_01. A very very VERY addictive place this can be. :)

At the moment I'm exploring the forums for the most economical ways to build QFF status. I've got 115,000 points which I'd like to try to use to upgrade from Premium Economy to Business ADL-LHR (need 5,000 more points to make that doable between now and September), but that will then clean me out of points so ASAs aren't really an option which leaves cash runs. Having said that I don't know what my chances of getting upgrades are given I'm only NF status.

If anyone had any thoughts I'm that would be very welcome!

I just got Silver with QFF for the first time today! I know it's only a low level status but I'm so excited all the same! Can't wait to receive my new card in the mail. :)

Btw does anyone know if there is a way to tell which QF domestic flight are on aircraft with the On demand entertainment systems with a tv on the back of the seats and which have ceiling tv screens? Wouldn't mind knowing or at least which ones are likely when choosing flights.

Congratulations on Silver.

It is not easy to tell which aircraft have the On demand entertainment. I have not encountered them on SYD-BNE and vv for a long time. I have been on them on BNE-TSV, BNE-CNS and ASP-SYD recently.

Thanks John :)

Yeah I flew ADL -BNE -TSV -BNE - MEL - ADL this weekend (hence the silver) and none of them had the on demand. I was starting to wonder where are they all. I've had them on ADL - MEL earlier this year and on ADL - SYD (though that one was last minute plane change and the crew told us our original aircraft didn't have it)
