Hey Guys,

Flying QF598 PER-BNE next week and the seat map has been changed to this:

QFF SEATMAP.JPG
I have been out of the loop lately as been doing Intl flying but I take it this is an Ex JQ layout with the coughpy millennium J seating in it? Has this A/C got any IFE at all??

If it is, what a friggin joke sick of Qantas selling a cough product at a premium price. Bad enough changing my A330 BNE-PER in December to a 737 :evil: considering a couple of years ago PER-BNE-PER was going to A330's to compete.....see that didn't last.

The new seats and a new management team cant come quick enough.

That is the seat map for the ex JQ 332 aircraft. In J, you get QStreaming. In Y, it is main screen entertainment.

These seats won't be around for ever. FWIW, this configuration started off at QF first before it migrated to JQ...

Assume these seats were taken from the ex-767s?

I have a few transcon A332s coming up, are these seats at least better than the PE seats with the tray in the middle?

No they weren't taken from the 767's.

There seems to be a multitude of threads on the A330 seat config so I might as well ask here.

How is this seatmap determined from the other types?

I'm aware of the following:

* The Economy cabin on Skybed equipped aircraft has 23DEFG and/or 24DEFG
* The Economy cabin on non-Skybed equipped aircraft has no 23DEFG or 24DEFG.

Both aircraft have personal IFE in both classes.

They are the "Millennium" seats; the 767's had either the millennium or the international "Dreamtime". A little better than the 332 PE seats and a couple of inches extra pitch.

Note. The E seat is blocked in rows 2-5 ...

Your summary was correct up to the time the old JQ 330's returned to the fleet. These have 23DEFG but no skybeds. They are noticeable through their lack of 1D on the seat map (and they have no seat back IFE in Y and iPads in J)

Thanks guys, you think they would have spent some money and at least put the new product in economy in the A332's and even just chucked in iPads for J until the suites could be fitted but nope not Qantas!

Just cant believe this aircraft was released into service exactly how it was when first came into service 10 odd years ago.

See they have started refiitting their first A332 with new suites, whats the bet the ex JQ A332's wont be the first to be refitted no doubt it'll be one with the skybeds.

I don't believe that will happen with these aircraft, they will be getting the iPad treatment.

Oh no; I hope that's not the case!

I really don't like these aircraft, and I seem to end up on them more often than not now, flying between BNE and PER. I was hoping it was only going to be a short-term disappointment until they were 'refreshed', but if the refresh involves sticking a coughpy iPad in each seat pocket, then I won't be impressed. :(

mrpooky.
