Anybody here going for the Origin Energy offer for SOLAR PANELS ...
170,000 ER Points.
Must purchase and commence installation by 30 th. October 2021.
My quote came to $4,770. for 17 panels, and a 5kw Inverter ( for 12 cents / kW input to the grid ).
Non solar bill @ $360. a quarter.
WITH SOLAR bill estimate @ $60. a quarter.
Any comments about this ???
Do a search using "origin solar panel offer issues" - & 45 minutes later & that should give you a good idea.
On your figures, appears like 395 W panels - which is at top end of power/panel.
VIP to have a look at who the panels are made by & what location. Same for the inverter. Some suppliers will use a good name manufacturer but source their lowest cost location.
Eg: some manufacturers assemble in Europe & China. European assembled historically have had higher quality ratings. Times change though.
Have a look at the 'solar' discussions here on AFF for some items to clarify/watch closely.
For example: What gauge wire will they be using? Paying a few dollar more (say an extra $10) for much higher capacity wiring means a much lower lost energy component. Can cut 'transmission' loss from panels to the inverter due to wiring by up to 80%, sounds big and is, however in total % of power generated it may give you an extra 1 to 2% over the life of your panels (which for quality panels well installed can be 35+ yrs).
Some installers choose the location that is easiest to install (for them) but may be the worst location for you (eg: gets shaded from early afternoon by roof ridge capping). Also if you have the roof space available - have a look at any neighbouring trees & think of how much bigger they may grow in the nexy 5, 10, 15 years - then place the panels that much further from the potential shaded area.
Hopefully you've got a few other quotes (try Solarquotes site and read their detailed Solar Panels 101 buyers guide - comprehensive).
