Strange things seem to happen sometimes.
Our family member who hadn't received an offer since the new rewards program started just got an offer. Looks like Woolworths Rewards have found their "missing" members. The offer is the same as the one mentioned above. We'd pretty much given up on this account.
I don't know why they sent the offer today though. It doesn't start until July 25.
Well, some people call me a cynic and others say prescient.
Most people do not look at the fine print (in their joy at apparently receiving something for next to nothing).
All they can think of is "Yes, yes, yes!"
And the next day or two they head out to spend the required amount and... and... then it hits them - it starts the following week.
99% of people just think, "I should have paid more attention to the email."
That is what the marketing folks want you to do - that is their plan. They get to tie up your spending for an extra week at no charge. Just like the "Pavlovian dogs" - once many people establish a routine they often stick to it.
Think of electricity accounts gas accounts, phone accounts (though changing), savings accounts, cheque accounts (and now for the worst) business or charity bank accounts.
Actually the very worst are "superannuation accounts". They are the 'stickiest' of the lot despite all the Industry fund advertising - even more so than term deposits or mortgages.
My rule for exciting (aka 'too good to be true' or "Trojan horse") offers - READ fine print 2x before enacting.
