Eurostar London - Paris

I'm going to book 2 tickets London - Paris return. Problem is friend is UK citizen. The default for country is Australia on raileurope web site.

I looked @ the Eurostar site, can't get past first leg of booking to see if it will allow me to enter country of residency for each person.

i like the idea of booking in A$ through raileurope site.

Does anyone have experience in booking with different nationalities for 2people travelling together?

Last ? did you travel standard class or standard premier & if the first option, was it comfortable?

Your nationality isn't on the boarding passes, so don't worry about that. Just as long as the name matches the passport.

As for the class, we did standard and standard premier... it is worth the extra money for the space, relative quietness and food service of SP ... but frankly, Eurostar, no matter the class, is more comfortable than any economy air seat.

I have booked directly through Eurostar and through RailEurope, without trouble. Me travelling as AUS and my wife as UK. And we travelled Premier last time and found it quite a bit more comfortable than standard which for me (at 186cm) was a bit tight. Premier was much more comfortable and we wouldn't go any other way.

Suggest you look around, when I did this raileurope cost twice what everyone else charged, I think the UK and/or french direct sites were cheapest!

Yes, my last two bookings were direct with Eurostar. Was a pain in the old days to have to pick up a ticket from the machine at the station (by inserting the CC used to purchase) before they had etickets. But easy enough these days, and its a classic "early bird" situation if you want the cheap tickets.

Avoid raileurope.com at all costs - their prices are hugely inflated.
I always book rail travel in Europe directly with that country's rail operator and try to reserve seats as soon as the bookings open ie. 3 months in advance.

Absolutely, from all my travel research raileurope.com is an entity that exists to make money out of tourists who do not where to book the cheapest fares.

You can pick up a one way London to Paris Standard Class fare for £39.00 if you book early (up to 120 days before on Eurostar) directly through Eurostar. All the classes are comfortable and for 2 hours and 20 minutes of travel time Standard class should suffice, allowing you to spend the considerable difference on yourself and your friend in Paris.

Do a google search for Seat 61 and you will find a very handy web page with great advice regarding rail travel anywhere in Europe.

I did all of my bookings direct with Eurostar or SNCF.

I also agree with avoiding Rail Europe - they have no phone number you can contact them on - once you're on your mailing list you'll never get off even if you lambast them on FB and they promise to do it - much easier to go direct with Eurostar
