Since the recent amalgamation/take-over between AA and US Airways there seems to be a lot of their recently released flights without any J award availability for flights between LHR/CDG and NY, PHL etc. even for 1 person. From what I've seen you can still find awards up till the middle of March but virtually nothing more recently. Of course it may be just that the awards haven't been posted yet but it does seem to be a departure from their previous practice.

AA have always had a lot less services across the Atlantic than BA but they have been a good alternative because of BA's generally horrendous taxes & surcharges - but it's no good if you can't get seats on their flights. FWIW Iberia have very good J availability and much lower taxes on their MAD - BOS service. It's then an easy connect to NY.
