I am making a few changes to my schedule for Feb in Germany, here's my problem, from FRA we are driving to a number of meetings in Germany and Austria.

My last meeting is in GRZ at lunchtime Wed. I need to be in Lyon on Thursday AM for a meeting...

I fly out of Paris at 0750 (CDG) to LHR on Friday.

I can drop my GRZ meeting in favour of leaving LNZ on Wed morning, however, would prefer not to do this...

I cannot extend my stay in Europe any longer as I have family stuff to do in Manchester Friday, Saturday and Sunday (I leave LHR at 1840 Sun to HKG)

All my previous planning has gone astray because of being awarded a good sized contract!! (BTW, that is a good thing :) )

OK, what options do I have?

Drive, Train or fly. I was thinking from GRZ to drive to Munich or even back to Vienna to get to a larger hub airport - either way it is a 2 hour drive.

I have spent a few hours trawling the net for an easy solution to my problem, alas, there doesn't seem to be one.... Any suggestions?

Mr!

Well, Munital, this may be an inexpensive answer to your problem.

Fly Graz-Stansted via Ryanair on the Wednesday:
Regular Fare
Adult
0.00 EUR

Wed, 18 Feb 09
FlightFR 5733

14:40 Depart
15:45 Arrive

Fly Easyjet Stansted-Lyon on the Thursday:

London Stansted to Lyon: February Thu 19 February £24.99
dep. 07:15, arr. 10:00

Stay overnight at the Travelodge Stansted Great Dunmow for GBP 19 and you have a great solution, which will cost you less than GBP 100 in total.

Maybe a bit too down market for you?

According to google earth it is about 300+ lm to Munich to anout 160 km to Vienna. I'd guess driving to Vienna is your best better.

Train wise DB-Konzern - Startseite is showing hourly train Graz to Vienna on 11 Feb - a random wednesday, these take 2 hour 40 minutes. Train to munich is about 6 hours. So best bet drive to Vienna.

Then the next question is the flight. Are there flights Vienna to Lyon? If not consider flying to Paris or Marseilles, these are both about 2 hours by TGV from Lyon

Thanks for the replys...

Stryker - love your work! I have sent the details of them flights to my TA for additions, I am also ammending the Paris/London to a slightly later fligh to get a few hours of daylight in Paris at least!

Now to change the hire car bookings etc...

Med, I must have had a brain fart to think that Munich was a couple of hours drive away, Vienna is, but I am going to give Strykers ideas a shot. Lucky for me I have a GB passport I can use, will make two transits into GB in under 24 hours easy.

Cheers

Mr!

Hey ya'll

Booked the Ryan and the EasyJet flights today - I was surprised that the use of the visa cost, luggage cost - anyway, after all of these costs, it was still cheaper than driving or using lufthansa.

Thanks for the info - now I just have to find a rail booking site to book Lyon to Paris.

I also added Manchester into my explorer fare - no extra cost! I was impressed!!

Mr!
