Oh yes, and if you join the BuyGPSNow forum (free) you get a discount on anything you buy through them. Their bundles are often very good value, but have to pay for shipping from USA.

I have Destinator 6 for my Dell Axim Pocket PC and a Bluetooth GPS receiver. I have maps for Australia, Europe, USA and Canada. It works well, but needs a little more tender loving care than a dedicated GPS device (like any Windows Mobile device does).

If you buy a bluetooth GPS and/or software from BuyGPSNow.com, they will usually include a free universal vent mount suitable for most PocketPC devices.

I bought my Bluetoth GPS receiver from a company that also sells them on eBay, though I bought mine directly from their web site for the same price as they sell on eBay.

Thanks for your advice NM.
I too have a Dell Axim X50v but had intended to use that with Skype S/W and a Bluetooth earpiece to make cheap phone calls.
I read (on an Axim forum I think) that running navigation S/W on one of these was very slow and it took a long time to recalculate directions.

At the moment I am favouring a dedicated GPS navigator and the TomTom One received a very good write up in Choice. At the moment my local D*ck Smith has these on special for $449, but I would still have to buy the Western European maps of course.

BTW Should this thread be cross posted to Communications & Internet?

I have used mine for VoIP calls using a SIP client, but found it added significant latency. Sounded like another 500ms or so over what I am getting from my USA-based IP PBX connection, and I can't get a reliable IPSec client for it so its no use outside my home since the IP PBX is inside our corp network.

I have not found any performance problems with it. What OS are you running (WM 2003SE or WM5?). There are some things that can be done to tune performance somewhat.

A good option, especially if you will be using it in a car back home as well. I rarely use mine at home because I use my PPC as my diary and its a pain to take all the cables etc needed to power it in the car etc. But for travelling I make good use of it.
