Truly vile and downright un-Australian in concept.

I detest the use of the term un-Australian in any context. It's as though we all have to conform to some mystical guide line.

Just because somebody does not agree with something does not make it un-Australian. There is no pro-Australian rule book.

Oi, detesting the term un-Australian is downright un-Australian. What would His Highness Lord Sir Tony say? Manus Island for you, cobber.

It seems to me anyone with enough $$ to throw around on this will have their own private jet, so not sure how useful it will be? I wonder if the space couldn't have been better used for more F or J seats (to be opened generously for awards, of course!)

Maybe it is a way of enticing those with private jets back into the fold?

Free upgrade for honeymooners? How's the soundproofing? The shower didn't seem too soundproof when Danni was in it.

Just because you a rich, doesn't mean that you own a private jet. I also see some (large) companies perhaps putting potential clients on this service as a way to wow them.

For the sorts of prices they are asking for, I'd imagine that is to cover the flights where the residence is not used as well. If nothing else this is part marketing exercise, much like the EK shower / on board bars.

OK I don't want to sound like a snob but as impressive as The Residence is with as much space as possible to put in a double bed, the Mrs & I share a king size bed so I'm thinking we would both get a better sleep on individual beds such as QF F vs The Residence.

Private jet with barely 6 foot of headroom or bedroom, bathroom and sitting room. I'd be inclined to leave the jet at home.

Fortunately I don't have to make that decision, hard as it is.

Would suit a marriage proposal or honeymooners.

I can't believe no one has commented on the bath robes. Forget the pyjamas, I want to hang out in a bath robe at 40,000 ft.

I asked Etihad Australia last night when I can start a booking process for the Residence since we (2 Adult Australians) are flying to Jordan in January 2015.
The reply is pasted below:

Thanks for your query. We have not received any announcement on when the A380 Residence will be available from Sydney as of yet.

Although we have unveiled the products, we are still waiting for the dates on when the A380 will be operating in Australia.

You can check with us maybe at the end of the year and hopefully we have more information about availability and pricing for you.

I will continue to purchase Lottery tickets so I can have something to spend the great win on!.

Didn't think about that, however should the problem arise I will get Shrek to sleep on the couch and I'll take the double bed :p

Welcome to AFF Roxanne, and thanks for the information.

2nd. Islamic law frowns on single persons from associating in these circumstances. Hence, it would only be for married couples.

I can't see it getting of the ground

FWIW, Islamic law also prohibits consumption of Alcohol but that hasn't stopped any of the ME3 carriers. I don't see EY creating any issues like that.
