Unexpectedly taking my first VA trip KTA-PER-SYD on Friday (red eye urgh) due to a cost saving initiative by my employer. I have Etihad Gold status, but don't have the card with me. If I enter the EY FF number at online check in, will it reflect on my boarding pass and allow me access to the lounge. Frustratingly can't access personal details and update booking on the website now as VA don't permit that on TA booked flights.

Also, are meals and drinks complimentary on these routes?

The lounge staff in Perth will (should) be able to look up your EY Guest profile as long as you have your EY Guest number.

On the KTA-PER flight you will receive a sandwich or wrap plus a small side snack. All regional WA flights have tea, coffee, orange juice and water complimentary. If you are travelling during Happy Hour (departure time weekdays within 1700-1900) then beer, wine, cider and soft drinks are also complimentary.

On the PER-SYD flight on flights that aren't red eyes you receive a full hot meal. As you are travelling on a red eye you will be served a snack bag and also a hot item such as a quiche or toasted sandwich. On PER-SYD all drinks except for spirits are complimentary at all times.

Hope this helps.

Sounds good, a few colleagues are a bit upset at the switch from Virgin, primarily because most are gold and plat with QF, and had been advised it wasn't a full service airline. However, sounds similar to QF offerings on the same routes.

Thanks for the reply.

Just a bit of feedback so far, attempted mobile checkin and the passbook passes had no indication of status. Then tried web check in and the boarding passes were printed with 'EY xx_xx_xx_xx_x. PGL Partner Gold', so it seems the system does recognise the status and hopefully will suffice for lounge access. Incidently, I didn't appear to get any preferential seating choices.

You would have already travelled now, but don't forget that the a Etihad mobile app also has a 'card' screen where it shows your membership card (and elite markings, as relevant) on your phone. :)

Thanks for that, good advice. I had an excellent experience with Virgin. I missed my connection, and arrived at the airport for the 05:35 flight, and was swiftly transferred onto that flight without charge (advised because of my gold status). Lounge was pleasant enough, and loved the wifi entertainment app on the 737-800. The only down side was the tired old Fokker 100 from Karratha still in Skywest colours (far poorer interior condition then KLMs old Fokkers).
Overall, pretty happy with Virgin so far.
