Hi all, does anyone here have an idea of the best status run route from Brisbane for my Etihad Gold status which expires end of March 2020?

Solution
How many Tier Points do you need to keep your status ?
You can check that when you are logged into your Etihad Guest account, scroll down and choose Tier & Status bottom right.

It will show shou how many Tiers Status you need to keep Gold or to reach Platinum.
It also shows you the Tier counter. (1 for a eco flight with VA).

Etihad uses Tier Miles.
1 BNE MEL is 857 Tier Points even on the cheapest fare.
1 BNE LAX is 7160 Tier Points
So it's basically the longer flight you can take the better !
Mind as well that the auto report on Etihad does not work very well so keep your boarding passes.

Thanks Thibault for your response. I know I need 40,000 Tier miles . I was thinking of the BNE -LHR route in a combo of FC & BC tickets, just throwing it our here to see if anyone else have done it better, smarter and cheaper.

As Etihad is distance based - if we do BNE AUH LHR and return - this only gives 21780 Miles.
But if you do BNE MEL AUH LHR return this gives 23054 miles.

You need to choose indirect flights - and try to connect preferably via Melbourne as it gives a lot of extra points often for cheaper.

BNE - AUH - JFK is 28620 return 'direct'.
If you add via Melbourne both ways, it gives you 29894 Tier Miles.
BNE - LAX is 14320 Miles return direct
BNE - DPS is 5580 Miles return direct
BNE - PER is 4480 return direct

I assume the tier counter is set as 0 ?
If yes, 40 sectors to complete (1 sector in eco, 2 in Business) is maybe not achievable.
Also, be sure to fly on the correct fare class to ensure earning.

You can also maybe connect to LHR and then use Alitalia to fly to the USA ?
Also you can use Air Serbia for Eastern Europe.
or BNE - LHR and then BNE TYO with Alitalita (but I am not sure the tier miles will be posted on time) and then connect with VA HND to BNE ?

Also with Etihad - in Y you can choose the cheapest fare and you still earn 100% of the Tier Miles.
If you fly Etihad on a VA codeshare - even better as you will earn 100% Tier Miles and Guest Miles instead of 75% Guest miles if you fly on a EY Deal ticket.

I just received an email from Etihad - regarding the coronavirus.

They are working on the Frequent Flyer subject but we can expect double tier miles until the 31st of March so that's quite a great perk.
Easier than ever to achieve or maintain status now.
I am not sure this also applies to non status holders.
