Etihad First Class Lounge Access Velocity Platinum 2019

Hi everyone - quick Q - does Velocity Platinum still have access to the Etihad First Class Lounge in Abu Dhabi?

As of a fortnight ago it did on my way through to LHR. I was worried that it didn't as the Velocity website for international lounge access isn't as clear on this issue as it used to be.

Yes it does I was in it 7 hours ago. Fantastic facility. The entry doesn't stand out though so when you see a sign pointing to it, you may find that the entry is right underneath the sign (where shops are).

One funny thing though is that it's called Lounge and Spa, but there isn't a spa.

Very funny that you ask. As I was entering there was this group at the entry who went to the side and let me go thru.. then once the lady processed me through she said 'Sir as a Platinum member you can bring in a guest and this family behind you need an extra person" ... so yeah you can take in a guest.

Yes. Amazing lounge and service. I was just there 5 days ago from BRU. Also, a complimentary 15min spa treatment of choice excluding your one guest. Enjoy!

I don't drink alcohol so my "best thing" about the place was the warm nuts.

Ask for a coffee and sparkling water and they'll also bring a small cup of amazing warm roasted nuts. I overdosed on them.

Yeah, I limit my drinking to NONE on the plane and 1 in the departure lounge and 1 in the transfer lounge. For recovery purposes though!

I missed out on the nuts!?!?!

Had sliders with fries, salad and a little apple pie. And of course....my 1 beer!

There certainly used to be a spa. Perhaps you missed it? I got a free massage last year there.

I specifically asked and they talked about the massages, etc. No spa... showers yes of course.

It's quite common across many parts of the world, including Australia, to call an establishment that offers health services like massage, beauty treatment, etc a 'Spa', regardless of if it has steam baths. So in this context, yes, they have a spa. Fair point that it doesn't contain a literal spa pool.

The original 'spa' was not a steam bath anyway, but a spring that contained iron - you just drank the water in the Belgium town of Spa for a medicinal benefit.

We went in in April (Platinum with +1 of my wife, and infant). Great kids room and service if you are travelling with a little one. Much better than the shocking staff on the 777 MEL-AUH. Lucky the A380 crew were great onwards to JFK.

Amazing lounge, was there in Jan this year with an 8 hour layover, (Virgin WP) ask if one of the 'Private Rooms' are available..we paid 100USD for it, has two sofas, dining table and private bathroom and shower. They bought us out 2 huge blankets and pillows. Breakfast was served in the room with an amazing layout on the table.
Would certainly recommend!

Yes I concur. Very quiet and cosy with top shelf service. I never knew about the private rooms, I will research that for next trip.
