Etihad pay tax? They're getting a raw deal in terms of other UAE companies if that's the case :p

All foreign companies pay Australian tax if they operate in Australia under the transfer pricing requirements of the somewhat bloated tax laws.

And Qantas has put in $500K + an additional amount ($1000 per run scored at the Australia vs. England One Day International ). So expectation is about $1 million.

$1 Million seems to be the Airline figure!

Bloody Heck...... The flood victims will be praying for England to bat first!!:)

If they don't...... Who knows....... Qantas may only have to pay another $150k!

I am not much of a believer in random charitable donations by companies - if shareholders want to donate to charities then let the shareholders decide where the donation should go. They are just giving away the shareholders' profits.

Not trying to be contrary - just not something I believe in. I also find it somewhat cynical as well if any of the motivation is driven by improving brand...

Yeah, I used to think like this as well but these days I see it as more of a win-win. Etihad could have spent $1m on an advertising campaign, but spending it on a worthy cause and getting the 'free' press, tax-deduction, etc benefits both the recipients of the charity as well as the airline, rather than ad execs and the airline.

My 2 cents :)

Qantas in addition to their cash donation, is also providing extra flights, transportation of extra freight and transportation for SES volunteers from interstate.

Hey All.

As some of you know, I recently had the opportunity to get to know Jimmy Barnes and his family.

The Barnes Extended Family has released an album on itunes, with ALL proceeds going to the flood appeal in Queensland & Victoria. This is a tremendous gift to the people in the affected areas.

I have asked Admin if I can post the link on here and he has given me the OK.

The album is only $4.99 and it is a great listen. I would encourage you all to download it to help those in need.
