Etihad has a surprising new partner in Air Canada. You can now earn and redeem Etihad Guest miles on Air Canada flights, and vice versa for Aeroplan miles. Interesting, especially as you can now buy Aeroplan miles.

Having a look at the various award charts, it looks like this will be more interesting for using Aeroplan miles to travel on Etihad, rather than the other way around. The Etihad Guest award chart for Air Canada is not that great, e.g. SYD-YVR in J would cost 170,000 EY miles one-way.
