eSims, what is your experience.

Just noticed via an ALL Accor email that Orange eSIM is offering discounts and points earning for ALL Accor members.

Limited countries but some reasonable deals, including Data only OR Data+Calls+SMS plans.

So now looking at this, for Europe. Yes, you keep your home number - on your home SIM. If you want service on that number, you have to keep that SIM open from time to time.

Their list of countries for their own voice and text doesn't include Australia, but they do say 'calls to the world'. So sounds like if you want to call home, you need to use your home SIM?

GBP18 for unlimited calls and text (to?) and only 20GB data - in 4G. Doesn't say if Accor deal extends to top-ups.

Looks like another pass for me.

@RooFlyer I already have an Amaysim phone plan, I renew it every year. So the Amaysim international roaming deal was an easy choice for me.
I never came close to using the 9GB of data on my last 6 week trip. I will use hotel or accommodation wifi, where it works well enough of just switch to the phone plan.
I liked that any unused data, sms and phone minutes are good for 365 days, so you can just top up before that expires.

I've been using the Airalo global annual plan for about 3 years now and really rate it. Works out at USD $3.30 per gb.

eSIM Pricing by Country – Pay-as-You-Use Plans | Bcengi this however I'll switch to once it expires. A lot of places are between $1-2 per gb ... but heaps are way more than that. Just depends where you're going and how much data you will use - I use very little (a bit of maps, and then only really text-based stuff while roaming).

I’ve kinda landed on US$1/1GB/7D has a benchmark (ie Frewie). Yes, there’ll probably be cheaper but many are a lot more for short duration.

I’m happy to pay a little more per GB if it’s a long duration plan eg Eskimo.

Yes I like the idea of not having to uninstall and reinstall a million different sims as I go through countries!
