Just a heads up to RedRoo that there is a clear error here:
http://www.qantas.com.au/regions/amadeus/minirules/AUEUSALE_SUMMARY/index.html
On the "First" tab, there is a line with 3 red Xs in the "refundable" row which is clearly incorrect.
Further they push the content in those 3 columns down an extra row.
So that lower down, the 3 red Xs and "Not Applicable"s which clearly should be in the "Flight Upgrade Awards" row are pushed down into the "Qantas Points and Status Credits" row.
I'm sure first class passengeres do earn both. And lots of them.
I wish this error affected me. I don't have a first class booking, I was just browsing while I checked other fare rules.
The error is not replicated on the tab for any other class, nor is it replicated on the First tab on the corresponding page for Australia to the US.
I haven't checked the pages for other regions.

Interesting that the 'no-show' fee goes from $300 to $800 from 1 july. Moral of the story - ring and cancel, even if it's 1 minute before cut-off.

$800... seems like an odd amount. And I wonder if it is even legal contract wise? (Is this a penalty rather than a fair and accurate assessment of damages?)

Airlines tell us they know how many people will no-show for a flight. They tell us they are expert at it. So if they already know, where does the $800 come from? Food and beverage?

$300 seems perhaps reasonable for catering.

Maybe it comes from the need for cash?
