As we saw recently with CBR, the airports are not shy when it comes to making the pax pay for the new terminals, in the case of LEA, did they get a new shed???:

Name Passenger Service Charge - Domestic
Code QR
Port Cairns Airport (CNS)

New Tax Amount AUD 14.00
Old Tax Amount AUD 7.87
Name Passenger Head Fee *NEW*
Code QR
Port Learmonth (LEA)

ADULT Tax Amount AUD 15.18
CHILD Tax Amount AUD 8.00

Maybe under the previous regulated environment the government was picking up the tab. With deregulation and the coming Qantas Jet services, they must have thought it time to start charging the PAX. With a bit of luck air fares will come down a bit, as Skywest fares to LEA were hardly cheap:shock:

Discovered this when rebooking a BNE-POM flight. Extra tax to go via CNS. So rebooked direct. One less PAX, CNS.

Also happy to not pay for that boofy new QP. The old fashioned reef lounge in CNS int'l 1000% better

Cheers skip
