-beer selection enhanced so that the same selection offered in J as in Y (in this case Hahn Super Dry and James Boags)

Business and Economy have always had the same 4 beers. Only F gets two additional beers both of which are bottled.

That's very disappointing... sounds similar to my last overnight flight from SIN.

Were you on QF6? I deliberately held back at the lounge thinking I might be fed like QF128. Silly me, ended up only getting a miserable sandwich. Asked for some Noble One as a night cap and couldn't even get one as apparently, there's none on board. Quite disappointing.

Yes indeed. Everything about the food service just felt kind of peasanty. The cheese plate (one of the small plate options) was so basic I think the FA felt embarrassed giving it to me.

:D Thanks for making me laugh after a rather stressful day at work. I did consider the cheese plate thinking it would go well with Noble One but as I was quite hungry, I opted for the sandwich which was quite tasteless anyway so you didn't miss much. Wondered if anyone asked for 2 items from the menu - I should've tried and observed the response. ;)

Same experience in J on QF6 about 10 days back... I wasn't that plussed with what was on offer in The Qantas Singapore Lounge, and so was hoping things would be a bit better on board. I opted for the Schnitzel Sandwich, hoping it would be substantial enough to tide me over until I got home (knowing all too well that there is effectively no breakfast offered anymore)... It was quite dissapointing. The quality of the catering out of Singapore just isn't up to scratch, at least in this example. Dry bread, next to nix coleslaw, and a fatty un-lovingly prepared chicken thigh schnitzel... a good 'schnitty' should always be from the tenderized chicken breast, in my opinion! No sides or salad given (I was offered a salad from economy - thanks, QF). Anyway - this is looking like 'par for the course', from other comments.

We must be all whingers ?????

QF J is on a top 10 list here complied by CNN.

But it only refers to transpac flights, not the usual grumblings on here about the Asia-Oz ones.

I saw the same article this morning, and thought the same thing! :) ... I found the CNN story via Loyalty Lobby, where John added his own conclusion, containing this:

It is bit of a surprise that British Airways, Qantas and Virgin Atlantic are on the list, although Virgin’s London Clubhouse is probably the best business class airline lounge.

Emirates, Etihad and Qatar are no surprise and Oman is well regarded, although I have never flown them. Singapore Airlines is usually good, but I am not such a huge fan of their short and medium haul business class.

Did QF SIN-PER yesterday in J (PLT1 thank you upgrade apparently :)) - thought food was really quite good in the lounge (to order spicy tamarind prawns or caramelised miso pork belly) and during the flight - had a nice goats cheese salad and grilled grouper with spicy Chinese style eggplant. Bread was fresh and warm and it all went well with a nicely aged semillon. They did have the schnitzel sandwich on offer but didn't see anyone ordering it.

Sounds like it must be luck of the draw - or maybe Perth gets better food than Sydney
