Well I don't think they have lost an aircraft. However, they came awfully close in Melbourne earlier in the year. Then again, Qantas has come close as well. So it all comes down to how you measure or quantify "safe".

IMHO they are a safe airline. There was only that incident at MEL recently, but that's really all (Wikipedia shows only one other incident at JNB). If it were based solely on confidence in providing a safe airline service, I'd have no hesitations flying them.

Quick answer yes.
It would be contrary to their ambitions to lose an aircraft or be seen as not safe.
Flown with them (in Y:mrgreen and would fly them again if I had to.
